I managed to cut myself through the seemingly neverending pain that is the House at the edge of time - could only do it when I nerfed the game to the lowest possible level. Mind you, I got until there on Normal.

And then this:

You are joking, right?

Let me list what I see:
- as soon as I enter 3/4 characters outright die
- a group of near-unhittable feys
- an unremovable debuff that means no spells = no cleanse, heal, ANYTHING
- a Monarch that dispels any buffs I might have applied beforehand

How exactly did you envision this again? Have YOU played this part, without cheating? With a level 16/17 party, half of them inaccessible because you, let's put it this way, forgot to tell us that you lose them unless you complete their quests, in specific ways for some cases while dealing with Kingdom troubles and other timed issues, no potions, no scrolls because you used them up already hours ago?

I have read your statement about difficulity levels and I would agree, but I kind of fail to see that in action here - on the LOWEST difficulity!

Thanks for the warning, was considering buying this, but fuck that; hopefully more lost sales will motivate them to properly balance the game, otherwise, I'm going to avoid this like the plague! Too bad, as I was looking forward to this game! The only people who like this game are those adrenaline junkies that play on brutal difficulties.

To be fair, it was my error as well, I have entered the wrong portal. If you finish the Lantern King's curse quest first, it becomes a lot more manageable.

So the game has been properly balanced then? If so, I'll change my previous posts and actually get this game as that's the primary reason why I won't get it!.
NO stay away for a month or two the ending is beyond busted was not playtested at all.

If you want to use a cheat engine or are an absolute masochist go ahead and that is on Story mode.

Played through to the end on challenging to the House of time and then went #%#%$ this and cheated to the end.

There is a line between challenging and needlessly difficult Owlcat does not know where that line is and I played through dark souls and Ninja Gaiden so I can deal with hard.

After the patches gave the game a solid 8/10 hit the last act and just uninstalled for a few months( will check back loads of potential just wasted ATM) not what you want customers to be doing.

Well... define "proper". Again, I got until the final part on Normal: there were some high hurdles and challenging encounters where I'd have liked to have a warning beforehand but overall it was not unfair - I had to change spells and equipment, sometimes go back to a save to get prepared. This is due to bugs as well mind you, not just being unprepared.

Only the last part is where the difficulity skyrockets, because the enemy type is, let's say it this way, impressive even in the PnP books and since this game does not give you all the tools PnP does, it results in a way higher than intended challenge rate. A questionable developer decision about your potential team also plays a role, there ARE scenarios where it becomes impossible to progress.
It's really painful to make your way through this location. I enjoyed the game so much until the final quest. I played it on normal, dealt with the dragon and with the lich with little efforts. But then... I didn't expect anything like that. I got really annoyed with those encouters so I lowered the difficulty to minimum. But I am still in pain because I can't find the third key. I am running all over the castle having to see those pretty annoying loading screens every 5 minutes.
Before this quest I would recommend this game to any D&D fan, but now my impression is completely spoilt. I just want to finish it asap, because I get nothing other than pain for last 4 hours.

They give you many levels of control of how difficunt the game is. It would be nice if there were in-game/non-immersion ways of warning you about going certain places But, still leave it up to you to make the choice.
Have to agree. From the Castle/House until the end I bottomed out the difficulty level. As for the 'ending'... don't get me started.
