I've pre-ordered the game as soon as I had the option and am currently on my second (full) playthrough. Still greatly enjoying every minute of it, but there's one thing that got me wondering...

Is there any purpose to moving into a higher-class apartment? Does it provide any kind of benefit or altered dialogue, or would I be doing so simply for a slight increase in difficulty?

Apologies if my question has already been answered elsewhere. The game doesn't seem to offer an explanation.
The Steam version has an achievement for moving into a Class-5 dwelling.

Otherwise, I don't think there's any benefit besides roleplaying.
I didn't see a difference either. My rent just got up in my 2nd playthrough in the starting apt., but in previous run I didn't spot any difference other than higher rent and lower heat cost. I was kinda surprised to see that actually, you'd think the family members would require less heat or at least get sick less often in the higher tier apartments. As it is, I think there's not really any point to move.
Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I kind of suspected it would make no real difference.

I wonder if a meaningful way of spending a few extra credits, aside from booth upgrades and story events, could have been implemented. As it stands, my current surplus of $285 on day 20 is pretty much worthless.
I figured it would impact the ending somehow !

I know right, in my last playthrough I finished with almost $500 in the pocket. Maybe we'll get something in an update, if such a thing is made sometime.
At class 6 heat five and 5 you do not pay for heat at all.
i dont know but i would have thought your family wouldn't get cold and sick as often in better apartments
