When I click GO in the briefing screen, the screen flashes a few times then goes straight to the debriefing screen with the scenario failed. I tried posting a much longer, more detailed post but It wouldn't let me post it.

Then there is something wrong with the DirectX rendering of the simulation.. I need more info on your setup. Make sure you try without mods first. Also, rerun the 3D config program to view avalible modes.

I have no mods running, have tried d3d and software rendering in almost all compatibility settings on all .exe files. I tried to attach my dxdiag, but it says wrong file format, I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Intel I7 extreme processor, Amd radeon 6990 x2 graphics cards(I tried with and without crossfire mode) Asus rampage iv extreme motherboard. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sodtware rendering does not use DirectX. It uses internal routines and all work is done on your cpu. This makes me think it is not a graphics related. PE needs the ability to write to your HDD. By default, Win7 does not allow this unless you are running as administrator. Also, can you post the contnets of Desertfoxlog.txt

Yes, I read and followed that thread you posted, running with administrator rights, all compatibility modes tried, still no luck. Here is the log-

***** InitLog: 13:54:50.001 (11.1.2014) *****

**** CloseLog: 13:54:56.729 (11.1.2014) ****

Not much there.
Well, what do you know, it finally worked! Software mode. Why won't it work with Direct 3d support I wonder, oh well, at least I can play it now. Now my problem is that it won't play at a resolution of 1920 x 1080, get an application error the instruction at 023445bf referenced memory at 02fb2000 the memory could not be written (sometimes the memory could not be read from). Any idea what max resolution I can play at?

It sounds like 3d control can not find a compatible video mode. Restart your computer and run 3d control center again. Is is still red? If so, delete the files PE\data\Setting.HAL and PE\data\hwconfig.ini and try again. If still red, try installing DX9, Win7 comes with DX10. If you are using compatibility mode, use Win98 not XP.

I checked the sorce code and anything more then 2 gigabytes of video ram will cause a negitive value. I'll see if I can rewrite the module.

I have 4 GB of ddr 5 ram on the video card. Now things are messed up even worse lol, I can't choose any resolution above 1280x1024 when I run the 3d control center, I have no sound in the sim part of the game, menus before that have sound. I did install directx 9c as advised in one of the posts on this board. I uninstalled the game, restarted my computer and reinstalled, no change with resolution change and no sound. I made sure all .exe files were in compatibility mode windows 98, disable desktop composition and administrator.I am getting frustrated, how about you? I did erase the data files you recommended, still red text about the memory. Thanks again for your help. As we are communicating on both this forum and the GOG forum, which one would you prefer using, no point in posting on both.

Has this been fixed yet? I just bought PE and can't play it at all, my video ram shows up as -1127144 kb in the 3D Control Center, even with a restart and running it in Software mode. I can launch the game and navigate the menus just fine, but when I try to start an operation it just kicks me back to the after action debrief with a memory runtime error. I have a gpu with 3gb of vram.

For PE1.2 make sure you do not select a 32 bit screen. For any of the PEx based mods, you can use 32 bit or 16bit.

I think this is the one with only 16bit options.

I too am having the BSOD when going into the 3D section of the game, followed by the results screen which of course has zero results. I have the game on disc but bought it here hoping this issue would be addressed for modern computers. Alas, not.
Have tried both Direct 3D Renderer and Software Renderer and I am only running the game in 16-bit. No Mods installed.

Windows 7 64-bit
i7 950
18 GB RAM (16 usable on Win 7)
GTX 760 2GB
