Hey...
Got this game from GOG.
Started playing a couple of weeks ago,
and when playing the swamp boss,
the game crashes...
I get a script error message.
I did find old post''s talking about this,
but no solution...they refer to patch 1.64 wich is the version offer by GOG.
Any ideas?
thanks

If you are running XP, my only suggestion would be to make sure you have the latest video drivers installed.
If you are running Vista / Win 7, did you install the game by right clicking the setup.exe and clicking "Run as Administrator? If you just double-clicked the setup.exe the game may not have installed fully since Vista / Win 7 tend to block some disk writes if setup.exe's are not run as admin. If you did not run as admin, I would backup my saves and reinstall as an admin.
If you did install as admin or after a reinstall, right-click the game shortcut, click Properties, click the Compatibility tab and check-mark the "Run this program as an administrator" option near the bottom.
As with XP, also make sure you have the latest video drivers installed (links above).
Make sure your firewall is not throwing up "Allow this action?" dialogs behind the game screen. Start PK, Alt-tab to the desktop and see if there are any firewall dialogs. PK will not allow some firewalls to display their dialogs.
If you have a dual core AMD processor . . . it might be worth giving the AMD Dual Core Optimizer a try.
It helped Painkiller to run smoothly on my laptop. It doesn't have a GUI but installs and runs in the background. Can't see that it has affected anything other than PK runs better. It can be uninstalled using control panel. IT IS NOT FOR INTEL CPU's
That's all I have . . . =)
Edit: Some have trouble with UAC and find that turning it off or installing the game in a directory outside of Program Files will fix some game problems on Vista / Win 7 installs. You might try turning UAC off, play PK, if the problem is gone . . . install outside of Program files might be the answer.

Thanks Stuff
Im running XP pro on a old PentiumIV,all requirements exceded.
As I mentionned ,in the Deamcatcher forum (2006} they refer to this
exact same problem (script error) at the exact same place in the game.
There answer= patch 1.64.
i am playing in Nighthmare mode so no cheats.
Stumped??
Try turning off bloom if you have that running, if that doesn't work try turning all the graphics settings down the lowest possible.
hey Ralackk
Bloom is off+I turned everything to lowest settings
even res to 640,again crashed.
Swamp Boss had 1/4 of life left, this quite frustrating since I cant
continue the game!
Anyone??

Hey thanks
I have been to this forum and man,Dreamcatcher should update
there forum,pills anyone...
The problem seems to come from Lua,the name appears in the error
message+in the list of all the logos you see at the bottom of the main window
along with Bink ,Dreamcatcher and all the others
Will start level again ,all settings at minimum, even sound+new driver install...
thanks again for your time.
Solved ???
Defeated Swampy in 2.36mn
Heres my take on the problem.
You have to defeat the Boss under 4mns
since this is the time allowed to unlock the tarrot card.
I also notice that all my quicksaves where under 4mns,
so the game crashed 4mn into the level...a quirk maybe???
So I am of to the train station all settings maxed out.
(about that EVE...)
thanks

Well, seems like a script error that should easily be fixable by the developers. Does anyone else have this error? If not, maybe something went wrong at the game installation (one byte was miswritten or so) although that would be a big coincidence that it's at the same point as earlier issues.
Glad to hear you got it fixed . . . =) . . . Enjoy PK !!
hey!
the problem is not fixed,
just had to defeat Swampy in less than 4nm..
thanks again.
