Ok well i decided to go through this again cause recently got from Steam the rest of the Painkiller games and well before i did anything I patch Battle out of hell with the 1.61 patch and now the game will not run, asks me for the CD or in my case the DVD and also when the patch completed and i checked launch painkiller, said a file was missing. So since I cannot recall what i did in the past to fix this can someone please help me?

The GOG version is already at 1.64, why are you trying to patch it down to a lower version?

Or are you trying to say that you have a retail DVD version and not the GOG version?

Yeah I have Painkiller Triple dose on two DVDs as well as the soundtrack, so the version is below the 1.61 version, but even with the Ultimate patch from a Painkiller dedicated site, it still gives me the same errors wanting the CD in despite if it is in or not no change and the error after you patch if you try to launch from the patch about missing a file.
The Black Edition is version 1.61, to update into 1.64 you need to download 1.62 first.
Anyway, which install do you have? DVD? GoG? Steam?

I have the Triple dose version on DVD and i have used the 1.61 patch before but now I can't remember how to patch it successfully so it will run and not ask me for the disc which when i put either in do nothing to help.

This is the only place I've found that seems to know what they are talking about as well as actually reply btw, so sorry if I am in the wrong place.
But advice is to uninstall all of them, reinstall, then download black edition patches 1.62 and 1.64. I don't own retail copy of Overdose so I can't help with that one.

should it solve that whole need the DVD thing?

Edit: never mind seems it already is patched to version 1.64 it is the black edition but oddly i did have to patch it before so i guess in any case this question as pointless, i was messing things up sorry all.
