Hello everyone,

i already own this game on steam, but i decided to buy it on GOG too, to play with my girlfriend. However, she can't join my game. Everytime she enter the name of my session, an error window display the message "No game find with the given name".

Do you have the same issue ?

Sorry for my poor english.

Sorry for the useless post. If moderator could delete this post ...
Is it the Gog Galaxy's overlay ? It sounds kind of like a DRM no ?

Yes it's the Gog's overlay. And i think there is a kind of DRM too, but not for the same reason.
There is no way to play with another person without being online (except the split screen mode). No LAN mode or anything like that.

GF and I both own the game as well. I own it through Steam and she owns it through GOG. GOG overlay isn't needed for us (she disabled it to test). I'm still able to connect to her game and she's able to connect to mine no issue. Also, noot featuring LAN is just a lack of feature/capability and not really DRM.
Can anyone tell me, do you need the galaxy version to play with Steam friends or can you play with them just with the manually downloaded version?
Thanks.

If I get time this weekend I will try to test this for you if no one else knows.

Sorry I didn't get to this till today. Unfortunately it's looking like the answer is you might need galaxy. I downloaded the links manually (don't know if anything about this would be different if I used to GOG Downloader) and installed the game on my computer where I don't own it on GOG at all (I bought it on Steam before it was ever on GOG unfortunately). I still had Galaxy installed and it seems to detect this as the it was listed in my list of installed games in Galaxy. Galaxy seems to then be detecting that I don't actually OWN the game on there and tells me it's not connected and gives me an option to "Connect Now", if I click that it takes me to a page to redeem a game code.

I can load up the game and play fine but the options to join a game or open my game to a friend are greyed out.

Again, I don't know if anything about this would be different if you didn't have Galaxy installed at all in the first place, or if you used GOG Downloader, but it at least appears to be that you need Galaxy for online functionality.

I went ahead and sent a message to GOG support asking if Galaxy is required.
GOG's response:

"Outward supports local co-op(split-screen) for two players and that does not require Galaxy.
Online multiplayer, however, requires Galaxy but also offers crossplay with steam users."

Is there anyone who knows a way to run it over lan?
Can someone clear me out, does it work on both version of Galaxy 1.0 and 2.0 ?
Thank in advance.

Pretty bad of GoG and developers not to type it out on the store page.

On other games with the same problem there is usually some text like "online multiplayer requires Galaxy" or similar...

I guess I'll go for the steam verison then...
