It takes ages to go from the game to the menu and vice versa. If i want to load a new game the screen goes black blinks a little then it loads a new black screen but showing a cursor on top of that, blinks again and now again it shows a black screen and finally it loads the game. It takes about 6-7 seconds if not more. It should really go blinking fast on modern computers.

This is infuriating especially when playing on the hardest difficulty and dying a lot. It is exactly like with Dark Forces Jedi Knight 2 but worse. They're made by the same studio (Lucas Arts) and was released the same year. I think they're using the same graphic engine.

I am using Windows 10.

If you're running the game in 3Dfx Glide mode with nglide (which I think is the default that the GOG version comes with), open nglide_config.exe and set the screen resolution to "By desktop." If the problem persists, try downloading and using dgVoodoo 2, instead.

If you're running the game in Direct3D mode with dgVoodoo 2, open dgVoodooCpl.exe, go to the DirectX tab, disable "Application controlled fullscreen/windowed state." If the problem persists, open dgVoodooCpl.exe and try enabling Windowed on the General tab.

If you're running the game in 3Dfx Glide mode with dgVoodoo 2, open dgVoodooCpl.exe and try enabling Windowed on the General tab.

FYI, Outlaws uses a modified version of the Jedi engine that was first used in the original Dark Forces. Jedi Knight 2 uses the Sith engine, which is, basically, Jedi 2.0. So, it is and isn't the same engine.

Thanks! But it didn't help. Using direct3d it crashes instantly. The problem is that the constant resolution changing since the menu runs at 640x480 but the game uses the resolution set in nGlide.

How can i avoid that?

It might be crashing because of a setting in olcfg.exe. With Direct3D selected, press the Advanced button, then disable the two options at the bottom. The "render in one pass" option is the one that causes crashing, while the other prevents garbled fonts. You're welcome to enable all of the rest for the best looking game.

With the game in Direct3D mode and using the dgVoodoo 2 wrapper, the menus are scaled to my desktop resolution, same as the gameplay, so there's no resolution changing in the game. The same could likely be done with Glide mode and dgVoodoo 2 and, possibly, nGlide, but I can vouch for it working this way.

Use latest version of nGlide (extract all files in game folder with 7zip)
