Game played perfect until last update. Now plays fine until you choose main game, historical, etc. then game shrinks to window in top left quarter of screen. Then goes full screen. Starts level you can play through level until either cut scene or next level loads then same shrinking. Goes back to full screen but game is unresponsive with black screen. Only way to get out is to alt,control, escape then shut down laptop, switch user, or log out. Can not even use manager to shut down game because it will never be on top of black screen. Windows only reports that outlaws crashed no other information. Have uninstalled and installed. Sometimes it does the shrink and expand crash before game even runs long enough to show first scene.
Have over a hundred games and this is the only one that is giving me fits.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

I'm having a similar issue. The game will keep resizing in the top left corner any time I try to save, load, or go to settings/options. It's annoying as HELL because for loading it'll sometimes do this 3-4 times and tkes almost 10 seconds each time. So now it's making saving/loading an absolute chore out of something that should only take a second or two. Haven't had any freezing or black screens, but i also just started playing.. I'm trying to see if changing the resolution might help things, but there's no in-game option for that.

Have you both already tried renaming olwin.exe to something else? That disassociates the game with the compatibility settings that GOG installs to try to help the game work for some people, but which often just cause problems. Often, when GOG updates an old game like this, they don't actually update the game files; they update the compatibility settings. In my experience, Outlaws usually works perfectly well in Windows 10 all by itself and GOG actually creates a problem where it didn't exist before.

BTW, for anyone who's interested, I made a registry file last year that actually removes the compatibility settings that GOG installs. For most people, simply renaming olwin.exe works just as well, but advanced users who aren't afraid of editing the registry may prefer the proper method:

Renamed olwin when I first tried to play to get the music to play.
If I rename it now the game does not play cutscenes, any sounds at all. It will eventually crash. It could be a few seconds to a few minutes.
Once it crashes it goes to a black screen. Windows key allows me to bring up the bottom bar but can do nothing with this because I can not close down Outlaws or open any program because the black screen is always on top. Can control, alt, delete but if I bring up system manager I can not see or use it as black screen is still on top.
Only way to regain control is to restart computer.
