I tried to play multiplayer through warzone and game ranger, but neither of them can find an installed version of the game. I can't launch the game at all. Does the gog installer not write to the entry?

Just checked, my GOG version was automatically detected. If it wasn't you can always manually specifcy its location through the options. I don't know if the GOG version is compatible with the version used more commonly by the Outlaws community, though.

Well I managed to get Gameranger to detect Outlaws, but it crashes upon launching the game. Warzone won't find it at all, though, as there's no manual locate.

Indeed. I'm getting further with my retail version, at least into the game's main menu, while the GOG version crashes before the game is even launched. Will have to see if something can be done about it.
I think the problem has to do with registry settings (GOG install doesn't really create the standard outlaws registry settings upon install), or perhaps install location. I would try installing the GOG version to the default location:

C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Outlaws

Then run WarZone as administrator.
I just managed to actually host a game through WarZone, and my brother was able to connect! For whatever reason, I wasn't able to join any games hosted by my brother however.

Steps to make this work:

-Install in C:\Program Files\Lucasarts\Outlaws
-Opening up ports 2300-2400 and 5310 on router.
-Running Warzone as Administrator

That's good news. Think i'll try reinstalling outlaws to see if game ranger will work from being installed from that directory as well.

Edit: Warzone detects and launches outlaws fine the only issue i'm receiving is the sfx doesn't work, music does though. With gameranger i'm receiving an error of being unable to find a dll, picture attached. I was receiving the error with warzone as well but for some reason that stopped giving me the error but also worked fine if i hit okay. With game ranger it starts hiding behind the main process and even when could hit okay it'd crash outlaws anyway.

Hi Skwareblox, I'm Realsniper, brother of DennisBergkamp, we've talked on Warzone before. Have you tried opening olcfg.exe and changing the Display Driver? Try 3Dfx Glide and Direct3D, also under advanced make sure the first two checkboxes are checked and the last checkbox, the rest should be unchecked.

To update DennisBergkamp, I was able to host now with the following ports: 47624, 49655, 49678, 60209 and 64699. Port 2300 is used for joining.

Yes i remember talking to you yesterday!

I changed the display driver and nothing changes about the error, i'll try unchecking boxes like you suggest though and edit my post with what results i receive. I submitted a ticket with gog letting them know the errors that i'm running into since this part of the games functionality (for me at least) is fairly broken. I haven't heard back from them yet though.

I can't open ports still so i was mostly hoping game ranger would grant me and my friends (when they get the game) the ability to play without having to bother with opening ports.

I had the LECAUR3D.dll error also, changing to DirectSound in olcfg should fix this issue.
