After searching through the .ini-files and trying every experimental changes i could imaging to work, there seems to be no way to let outcast switch earlier from low resolution textures to high resolution ones, while you walk towards a grafical object. When you get closer to e.g. an house the grafics gets sharper and sharper every few steps. Just when you stand right in front of that house - about 5 meters away - the game shows you the best possible grafical representation.

So my question is as follows. Is there any possible edit of the .ini-files that you could do to change the ingame usage of highest resolution textures relative to the viewing distance?

The aim should be to have always the best texture quality for all visible objects activated, at any time, irrespective of the distance to grafical objects.
Any suggestions?
yes, any suggestion to fix this ? could be relly interesting !!
Hi there, I increased the speed of the soldier's projectiles and decreased the damage that some of Cutter's weapons cause. But I didn't realize how to change the damage of the soldier's weapons. I really want to increase the damage that some of the soldier's weapons cause, particularly the "drill gun", which seems to cause only 6 or 7 damage, less than any other enemy weapon in the game. Is it possible to change this? Can someone please tell me how?
Guys, about those INI-Tweaks: Could someone post some screenshots to compare how they look. I mean, what exactly are these tweaks doing?

Trying to play the outcast with a play-station type joy-pad I found that the outcast have a very bad control of the camera with the right analog (Left to right beams and the camera moves from bottom to top) and the controls set menu don´t have a way to set the analog. Then I began to explore the file control.ini and found that modifying these lines. The problem is solved.

"Rudder_LeftRight=~MOUSE_AXIS_0 JOY_AXIS_2"

"PitchAbsolute=JOY_AXIS_3"

PD: Sorry for my English.
Can you change what the merchants in Okriana sell? There seems to be a list of those in OUTCAST.INI under [WeaponMerchant], but changing the entries there does not actually seem to change what they sell in the game. I even tried starting a new game and rushing to the city to see if that helps. I'm trying to see if the SLNT-B upgrades could be included in the game that way. That is mentioned in the documentation and it does exist in the game, but the only way to get it currently is via console commands.
allerius, this that you have said would very intereting in order to adjust a better game difficult.
How do i bypass the loader? Can somone tell me what entropy is meaning with the command line 'game' ? I want to know where i need to put it.
Sadly I get a black screen when starting via a shortcut to .../oc1.exe "game" and even to .../oc1.exe

I don't know if anybody follows this thread anymore, but I recently bought Outcast from here and did some tweaking as instructed here. I made comparison screenshots, but didn't notice much difference except on the LOD seen on the character on the right. I'm using the hi-res modification, but anything above 640x480 results in really low framerate.

graulicht: The only downside of Outcast is that the shootings are far too easy. So I made it harder to avoid the enemy bullets.

In OUTCAST.ini, the values for that are called "Speed_of_bullet". Just search for these values, increase them and bear in mind that soldiers use the following weapons: [SeekerGun], [ScytheGun], [Sarbacan] and [LaserGun]. All other weapons with that value belong to Cutter Slade. (...)

Tempelton: While I'm not a big fan of arcade elements in adventure games, the slow projectile speed of enemy weapons makes encounters with Fae Rhan soldiers far to easy even for weekend players like me. It allows everyone to dodge bullets as easy as eating apple pie. So, as soon as I spotted the outcast.ini file amongst a dozen of other INIs and found that I can change the bullet speed for every weapon in game, I doubled the values for all of them (mine to, as I couldn't stand AI dodging bullets) thus making the game a little bit more challenging (note, that you can also change the speed of projectiles of various animals too, like spiders or zeedogs). After that, said soldiers were at last as dangerous as other Talans said they were. I didn't try tripling the values though, as things were sometimes too hot, especially during the attacks on various barracks and other military structures. Not to mention Kroax...

I also found setting map additive mode to off and tweaking its RGB values very helpful in order to make it a little bit more readable in some regions (especially Talanzaar and Okasankaar). Though map's RGB values are something you have to experiment with.
Please can you tell me whre i can find the ini file for outcast 2nd contact

I'd love to be able to make Cutter move faster. Any way of doing this?
