I played around with the "Demo Version" on Steam (Bootcamp Campaign and first missions of the other campaigns) and I have to say: Order of Battle: WW2 is great fun! Now I am wondering: If I buy the game and some DLCs here on GOG, will I be able to register those on the Slitherine Website and receive a key for the Steam version, too?

By now I have decided against buying on GOG, simply because of the fact that I know what I get on Steam. On GOG it remains to be unclear -- even up until today. So... I'd wait for a sale on Steam and skip the GOG versions, just to be sure. It is a shame though, because in general I prefer to have DRM-free versions of the games. :(
It's clear: buying at GOG' doesn't give a Slitherine nor a Steam key.

However, maybe I'll be pleased with a Slitherine key too, to have the most drm-free game:
If GOG desappear, will I be able to continue patching my GOG games?

Unfortunately, no, you cannot get a Steam key from purchasing on gog.

The thread you referenced outlines the system in place when a user purchases via the Slitherine store, and then gets a steam key. If you buy on gog or steam, you won't be able to download via the Sltherine store however.

Gog and steam purchases are separate from each other and cannot grant access from one platform to the other.
