I've pushed literally every button on my keyboard and done everything I could think of with my mouse.

Nothing works. How do you place units in the scenario editor?

I CAN HELP YOU WITH THIS

I made this mod years ago and still play it.

ITs calld the ORB PLANETARY MOD.
GOOGLE IT AND YOU WILL FIND IT ON FILE PLANET

you must have the official update installed for this to work.

send me an email as I think I updated a file that also modifies the freighters.

The scenario editor is so broken. I think it may even permanently screw up your game data, killing the audio or worse.

Use at your own risk (It helps to know a bit of programming to use it)

But how to place units....you won't believe this

Hold down CTRL+ALT+LEFT SHIFT while clicking with the left mouse button. Why they needed a three button combo...I'm mystified by the needless complexity. And if you delete a unit, the editor usually crashes. So be very selective about placing units.
I may be a bit late here, but the scenario editor works just fine...but that may be for me, and I never ever had trouble with it.
The problem is that newer OS like Win 10 & 11 make it behave erratically.

I have ORB loaded on several PCs, but I have not tested it on Win 10.
I went to load it the day before I posted this on a laptop that has Win 7 Enterprise and I could not find my original disk in the original jewel case [wonder why they are called that since you can't put jewels in them], so I bought it on Steam and installed it.

Turns out that on Steam it works perfect and no problem with the editor, but when I loaded it on Win 11 through Steam, the game runs great, but the editor is totally unusable, so running ORB on any OS other than 10 & 11 is a no-go, and though a player here may have found a fix for 10, it's best to use older OS.

To me, Win XP SP1 or SP2 works the best.
