I know the game announced linux support, will it also be added to gog, or just to steam as it seems to be a trend more and more recently?
I don't quite understand this upward trend of platform/feature disparity either and it's certainly discouraging me from buying new releases on GOG until they're treated equally. Other builds might be released later but once again it's left us waiting with uncertainty.
In case anyone wonders, it works on Linux (via Wine, of course).

Thanks for the info! Then I'll give it a try
Hi, just installed and it work with wine 7 and lutris on Linux, and the win exe program is up to date. I prefer a native programm but at least it works with wine !
I do not plan to chose between a native Linux DRMed build and a Windows-only DRM-free one.

If we do not get an explanation about why a Linux build is proposed to Steam customers but not to GOG ones, I guess I’ll pass on this game. That’s a shame, because it seems to focus on the parts I like the most in Civilization games.
I'm all for releasing a native Linux build on GOG, but GOG is still not treating Linux as a first-class platform. There's currently over 33k votes for a Linux client on GOG's wishlist but there's still no actual Linux support. We need GOG to release their API (not really the Galaxy client, that's optional) for Linux, otherwise it's not possible to provide a feature-complete Linux build on GOG and we don't want to officially release a version that is missing some functionality like multiplayer.

Until GOG provides first-class Linux support, I can only recommend the native Linux version on Steam or unofficial methods of running the GOG version such as Lutris/Proton/Wine. Meanwhile I encourage everyone to let GOG know that a Linux release of the API is desired!

Thanks for the answer !

I've add a wish for GOG : https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/complete_gog_api_for_linux
The forum still won't let me post links but there's a major wishlist item titled "Release GOG Galaxy 2.0 for Linux" with over 12k votes, and several more highly-upvoted Linux wishlist items. There's definitely a lot of interest but for whatever reason, GOG has not yet officially stated any plans for Linux.
Any update on the topic of adding Linux version of the game to GOG?
It has been 6 months since the release of the game.
Could we please get ANY information from GOG regarding the Linux ports of games. I prefer to buy single player DRM-free games from GOG, even if it means taking grace period of up to six months to prepare the port and everything that comes with it.
But there needs to be some info whether port will happen or not.
