Hey there been getting into using Linux so I was wanting to try a few native Linux games to see how it would run. I installed New n Tasty and was greeted with a full screen and an arrow cursor. then it seems to have a little black screen in the middle and half out of the top half of the screen. When I hit a button it pauses for 1 second with pause text down the bottom. I have attached screenshots to hopefully make any sense. Any idea what the issue is? I have to quit the game with alt+F4.

My PC specs are:

Distro: Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia base: Ubuntu 16.04 xenial

CPU:
Topology: Quad Core model: Intel Core i7-5700HQ

Graphics:
Device-1: Intel Broadwell-U Integrated Graphics driver: i915 v: kernel

Device-2: NVIDIA GM107M [GeForce GTX 950M] driver: N/A bus ID: 01:00.0
Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.18.4 driver: intel
OpenGL: renderer: Mesa DRI Intel HD Graphics 5600 (Broadwell GT2)

If you have a wireless controller attached to the PC, try unplugging it before running the game (source).

Sorry only just saw you had written back. No, no gamepads have ever been hooked up to the system.

Then you can try using the nVidia GPU instead the Intel one.
According to your system information, you have no nVidia driver installed, so the first thing you have to do is to install the nVidia proprietary driver. I'm not familiar with Ubuntu anymore, so I can't help you with the procedure, but you can follow a guide such as this one.
Make sure that the drivers are correctly installed and that you are currently using the nVidia video card, then try to run the game again.

Hm this is rather annoying. I thought I had it installed, I do but it doesn't its selected in tihe driver manager..but I'll have to look one up just to be safe. Thanks and sorry for the long slow delays.
Alright so after mucking around, it turns out I have them installed now, few commands here and there confirm nvidia drivers are running 4.15.
