I was excited to see this one on GOG since I played it through when it first came out, so I bought it and installed it, but now it freezes up in random spots, and I haven't been able to play it for longer than 3 or 4 minutes at a time.
I don't see any pattern as to when it freezes, and sometimes I can't even make it out of the main menu before it freezes.
Is this happening to anyone else? Any advice?

I run on win7 64 bit with an Nvidia GT240 GPU

Heya!

I had pretty much the same issue. Played around with various compatibility settings and none of them seemed to work, sooner or later the game would lock up (to the point where I had to reboot my computer) - then I tried running it in windowed mode and since then it didn't crash once (Win7 64 Bit, nVidia GTX580).

To get the game into windowed mode you have to do the following (thanks Rustypup for posting the instructions in another thread!):
"create a shortcut to the exe and tag:
-swindow
to the end... so that it reads something like:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Gog\NOX\NOX.EXE" -swindow

desktop will need to be set to 16bit colour"
Tried that, it only somewhat works... It still freezes up, but instead of freezing up after about 30-60 seconds it freezes after about 20-30 minutes.
Same problem - the game freezes after 30 - 45 min.

Windows 7, 64 bit.
Intel Core i7 720QM
NVIDIA GT 330M
I had it happening twice now, once after about 10 minutes of gameplay, the other time when I was trying to load my autosave.

Windows 7 64bit
Intel Core i5 750
NVIDIA GTX 260

I noticed my game would freeze and minimize after about ten minutes. I realized my screen saver was set to engage after ten minutes. Turning the screen saver off prior to playing Nox fixed the freeze problem for me. Don't know that it is a fix all but worth a try if you have an active screen saver . . . =)

Sorry, does not help for me...
Same problem, game freezes up after a few seconds till a minute after launch.

None, of the tips posted resolves the problem.
Bumping this - still an issue for me. Anyone found a solution?
I have the same problem - the game freezes at seemingly random points. Sometimes it freezes when I load a saved game, sometimes when I try to save the game, and sometimes just walking around it freezes.

I noticed most of the previous posts mention Windows 7. I'm running on an old machine: Windows XP, 2.4GHz Pentium 4, ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, 1GB memory. Which pretty much means that "state-of-the-art" hardware ain't the problem.

After all this time perhaps someon has a solution ?
I bought this game and I have the same problem.

After 10 minutes of play the game freezes ... and I can do nothing.
ATL + TAB don't allow me to come back to windows
the only way for me is to close the session.

Help ... !

I had the same problem and found no solution on the internet. But by accident I managed to discover something that eliminated my problem. I noticed that the shortcuts that the game created on my desktop from which I started the game lead to the file Nox.exe. However, earlier I did compatibility mode changes for the game.exe file which is also in the game directory. When I start the game using the game.exe file, the problem does not occur. Try maybe it will help you too :)
