Why won't my game KEEP connected to the online services... I un-installed it-- re-installed it...I run it from the GOG page... it joins... then
a few SECONDS later that message comes up. With a red circle and wont ever re-connect again... unless I
re-start it... wash and repeat.
I am going crazy. I know it's not multiplayer here yet anyways... but is anyone else having this problem.
I just want to upload my discoveries and get my credits!.
Discovery servers are on the Hello Games side and have had major problems for at least 1.5 years but the problems greatly worsened in the pre-Next update hype starting in approximately May 2018. You can play entirely off-line but in addition to not being credited for the discovery and I have not yet tracked to see if the rewards for reporting are subsequently removed (i.e., units decrease as the discovery is no longer treated as having been uploaded).
GOG cannot do anything to fix this and have said so in two support requests and Hello Games did not take any action in support requests submitted February 2017 and March 2017. The situation might improve as interest in the game wanes and there are fewer players but otherwise Hello Games needs to either fix this or remover reporting discoveries altogether. However, since the problem has continued for such a long duration it appears that the decision was made that the best solution is to ignore the problem and eventually people will stop complaining causing the problem to "disappear."
I have already encountered a situation where I ended up visiting a system that the message was that I had already discovered this. Landed on all planets previously undiscovered, found all fauna on one planet and uploaded only to later find that someone else had been credited with some of the fauna, two of the three planets and the system. Am also running into other conflicts and problems but so far those only affect my game and seems to have made finding the final one or two species of fauna significantly more difficult (reporting discoveries does seem to have a trigger effect in spawning the last species).
