Where are the savegame files located? I'd like to make a backup.
From a google search it looks like if you backup the %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\DefaultUser folder your savegames are safe.

Exactly correct
Thankyou!
Does this mean each user on the PC can have completely separate progress? Over on the Steam forums I read that Family Sharing works but isn't officially supported, and discoveries made on the secondary accounts are tagged with the name of the primary account.

I want to buy this game (despite the reported issues!) but if me and my partner can't have our own save games, it'll be a deal-breaker.

I can answer this..

Save games are UNIQUE to each PC and each installation of the game. I've tested and confirmed this.

Thanks for your reply. To confirm, by "users" I meant user accounts - i.e. User A and User B with their own Windows accounts/logins - would User A and User B in this case have separate game progress?

Yes they would.
My wife and I play on the same system. Works wonderfully!

not quite, you missed "Roaming" after "AppData"
On my PC it is
Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS\DefaultUser
here is the total line on my PC

C:\Users\%usersname%\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS\DefaultUser\cache

%appdata% takes you straight to the Roaming folder.

Fair enough but "support" replies should consider the lowest common denominator. Many don't use the keyboard in Win Explorer, they navigate via the Folders window.
