Just showed up on the Galaxy client. Anyone brave enough to try it? Little hesitant here. "Unknown version" = borked file or something?

ETA: Post-installation the version number shows as 1.53 and seems to load/run okay. Sympathy for the devs and their configuration management. ;-)

One of the good things about gog is that I can opt to ignore an update and keep playing until I see patch notes.


Its a pet hate of mine when games nowadays is when they force you into updating and the bloaty patch is stacked with multiplayer stuff and nothing of actual consequence to me as a predominantly solo player. Worst culprit of late was ghost warrior 3 where they took about a year post launch to tack on a multiplayer mode but didn't deem it necessary to make it a free and optional DLC rather than forced onto everyone.

Btw, let's say if someone downloads NMS today with the 1.53 patch, will the other patches be included in the game already?

No idea what it is exactly, but I went ahead and downloaded it, I've got backups of everything from earlier today.

Played fine, but I did get a crash while trying to kill a Walker from my ship... prolly unrealated to the update; I have a Hover mod active.

We have now released update 1.53 to PC, which includes the fixes detailed below. We’ll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.

Bug fixes:

Fix to restore savegames for players affected by a specific issue with freighter expeditions
Fix for an occasional white screen crash during loading
Fix for frigates not reporting their damaged state correctly
Fix for an issue that could block players in the “fuel the warp drive” stage of the tutorial
Fix for repairing broken ship slots in Creative Mode
Improvements to exocraft laser damage
Improvements for animations while turning, jetpacking, and standing on objects
Memory optimisations to improve stability
Preventative fix for potential stability issue with mission handling

If you experience any issues, let us know by submitting a bug report.

That isn't the patch we're talking about, I already updated to 1.53. This popped up today as an "Unknown Version" and downloaded 1mb. My roomate got it too.

It is and it isn't. There were two really small "unknown version" updates withn a few minutes of each other. I installed the first and it showed as 1.53 on Galaxy client after installation. And so did the second. So, weird.

Behavior all seems okay. It was probably an "Oh crap I forgot to ..." moment over at HG. It happens.

Glad to see Hello Games are being prompt with putting up Patch Notes to go along with the patches.

Look at that list of fizes and does it say 3.7GB to you? It deosn't for me! Because of the size I quite they had managed to quickly fix the multiplayer part!

Galaxy patch for 1.53 is 3.7 gigs

Patch you can get via the websites acocunt page is 37 megs

Sadly, for some odd reason it tells me "This patch does not support your version of the game please download a new installer"

My 1.52 to 1.53 patch shows a size of 39 MB. I'd guess that a 3.7 GB would have been a patch from vanilla 1.5 or even from back at 1.38?

I hope that's the case, actually. I've got this feeling that I might have missed some crucial patches or files during my somewhat convoluted journey in downloading NMS which took about 4 1/2 days to complete.
