I usually go out on foot to "explore" (looking for resources, etc) and when I get a ways out - summon my exocraft to get me back to the base - then sometimes unfortunately realize that instead of the "Fast" vehicle - I'm currently set up for the Colossus...

Does anyone know if there is a way to "switch" to other vehicles when you're a long ways from your base???

I don't think so, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask...

Thanx!

Not when we're out and about no, it just summons the last one we were in (designated Primary Exocraft).

I suppose there might be a way to change the primary exocraft using the No Man's Sky save editor, but how you would do that is way beyond my brain grade sorry. Would probably be not too hard though. Save game with a save point / beacon, quit, (make backup) use the editor, save, reload game. Seems an annoying way to do it though.

I don't use the exocraft, I'm like you, I like wandering around on foot exploring and gathering. I miss too much when I'm zooning about in vehicles, but it would be nice if HG added an option in the summon menu to choose which exocraft we wanted to summon. We can do it with other ships.
Does it even matter? After 5 meters (slightly exaggerated :P) you cant summon it anymore anyway and have to build a new exo station.

On extreme planets or those usually nice ones with very extreme weather (160 C firestorms which gives you 30 seconds after the fire shield is burned up) I prefer cruising around and doing occasional stops for scans or activating waypoints.

I actually do like the way summoning Exos work. Summoning, at least in my view, was introduced to overcome glitches (sigh ...), but more importantly it allows me to get them out of holes I drove them into by pushing a button, instead of having to build a new Exobay.

I am with you on the cruising part, but still, as I kind of extensively explained in another post in this forum, find them in need of balancing.

I only see them as storage, as way to travel, never. I would rather walk, even on extreme planets, than deal with hassle that is exo-crafts.
