The profanity filter in this game seems weird. I've been rejected for words that I would not think are obscene, but make sense for animals.

Is the profanity filter disabled in Offline mode? (I'd hope so, since you are not affecting others)

Also, has anyone heard information on what type of words are not allowed?

I've had it reject "bipedal", and also either "spikeback" or "spineback" (can't remember which one it was).
The filter is actually within a local DLL file: \No Man's Sky\Binaries\ProfanityFilter_x64_v120.DLL
Dunno if succesful modding attempts with this DLL would allow the then passing names to upload, though, as I can't imagine their server not checking incoming names again.

Uhm, as for your actual questions... no idea. But, that's where the local filter sits at, at least.
