I know GOG has been pushing Galaxy a lot more then usual but forcing us to use it to get game updates sooner is a bit too far. Ever since I joined GOG I have used the offline installers to install and update my games because I do not want to be tied to any launchers and I found it to be great that GOG offered downloadable installers rather then a launcher for games. No Man's Sky's multiplayer element while it may not require that the game be installed via Galaxy and only that Galaxy be open when you load it still most of the time requires that you be on the same version as most other players and even friends if you want to join them or have them join you in your game. For some time I have noticed the offline installer has lagged behind the current version which is updated by Galaxy for as much as a day or two and as a result while I wait for the latest version I can't play with my friends as because I refuse to update the game via Galaxy and force myself to have ot use a launcher even if I want to play offline. I should not feel I am being forced to load my games a certain way because the platform I bought them on is pushing me to use one way over another when there is a choice and those of us that still use offling installers as our primary way to install and update games should not be left out like this. Please find a way to update the offline installers sooner. In the mean time I guess it will be a lonely universe for me and my friends will have to wait another day to join me.

I you search this forum you will see that there have a few posts from GOG support about why it takes longer to get offline installers converted to be compatible with the GOG version of the game. These posts would be in the 2016 to 2018 time frame.

The way that the GOG installers work requires some modification (perhaps creation) of installer files.

This topic keeps coming up periodically.

I know it's just frustrating when yesterday I was able to play with my friends and today I can't because the update is lagging behind. No fault of GOG that an update happened so quickly after the last one but a whole 24-48hrs is a bit much with a game that relies on it being up to date for the multiplayer experience and the only alternative is one I'm actively trying to avoid. Hell the only reason I was even aware it had updated was because one of my friends tried to join me and got a "version mismatch" error which is the first I've ever seen happen as most of the time being one version behind still allows multiplayer to work but this update made so many fixes to the game it wasn't possible this time I guess.
