Well guys you be the explorers - I turned auto-updating off about an hour ago, now heading off to bed/shutting down too late - you tell me how your save-game/ship collection/achievements conversion to 1.5 went then I'll decide if and when to update XD

Thanks! ;-)
To me, NMS never was, and never was really meant to be a multiplayer experience. Once I knew it was coming, I was mildly excited, because I figured that me and my Dad and sisters can play together (We all like the game). While this is somewhat disappointing, the graphical overhaul and other features more than make up for the fact that we have to wait longer for the multiplayer aspect.

I understand that HG has a very poor track record of communicating with their customers. I feel as though they need to hire a dedicated marketing/communication specialist that can be the face of the company instead of Sean (who has self-admitted that he hates talking to media).

At the same time, they HAVE continued to support this game when they could have just dropped it and run away after the disastrous launch. They have admitted they they have poorly communicated and let's hope they learn to do better. Also, let's try to give them a little benefit of the doubt. To me, the right attitude is to be patient and wait. As BKGaming said, I would imagine it has something to do with the fact that they need GOG's help to implement the systems using their platform SDK.
OK I'm angry about the missing feature (and major selling point) of Next but the other improvements are actually quite nice. If it wasn't for the sour taste I would actually be quite impressed about Next so far. Such a shame man!

WTH is this?

Maybe if they hadn't been busy changing the look, nomenclature and layout of absolutely everything in the game from icons to space stations they might have had more time to finish MP. Did anyone ask for all this?

All the tech upgrades for my ship, suit and multitool that took weeks of harvesting... gone, replaced by a generic item called "Obsolete Tech". Why? I didn't even bother to return to my base because I strongly suspect that my containers are now full of "Obsolete Tech" or "Obsolete Resources".

I thought they were supposed to be fixing bugs and prepping for some form of MP. But instead my frame rates are tanking, and my hardware specs exceed the recommended for the game at release. The zooming star field that plays while the save is loading is a slideshow, the game stutters and halts whenever I turn the camera. Really?

I hadn't touched the game in several months, but I was looking forward to checking out this update. But it looks like a lot of "change for change's sake" and not anything constructive. A massive graphical overhaul no one was asking for that makes the client run poorly.

And Hello have the balls to wonder why people hate them.

I'm either going to uninstall and be done with it, or see if I can undo the update with older install files and disable auto update.
Like many others I can wait for the multiplayer, but I am absolutely p*ssed that they waited until the end of the day not only to release the GoG update but that they waited until that moment to inform the GOG player base that multiplayer was not part of our update. Instead we all waited all day long like a bunch of saps thinking we were getting the same update as everyone else.
How many people only recently purchased the game on GOG thinking they were getting multiplayer?
I've owned the game since launch but for those of you who just purchased the game specifically for this update I would go ask for my money back.
Terrible communication by both GOG and Hello Games.

All I can say is Fuck you GOG and Fuck you Hello Games! Makes me feel better.
Update went well, but...

Base: Gone.
All storage in the base: Gone.
Ship updates: Gone.
System: Different.

It is frustrating to see that all what you did and what you created in hours and hours of playing (approx. 150 hrs for me) simply is blown in the wind with one update.

This is not the problem, and I don't care about the multiplayer mode (which hopefully will arrive some time), what makes me angry about the update is that no one warned the players what will happen - see above.

Just my two cents.
With this second class treatment we had with this, I won't buy more multiplayer games here. I love this plattform, but as a customer, I'd like to have an equality treatment.

It's as magnificent as I expected it...

Even in creative mode you need to raise money in order to purchase a warp drive (I'm guessing as I cannot yet warp and all of the planets are shitty throwaways) so you'll have some goals to achieve as I'm not building my base on some shitty volatile rock, in spite of no real environmental hazards!

But yeah, It has a shit-ton of excellent changes!

EDIT: I would store my saves/mods first before updating, I would guess that you can install both versions seeing as we have access to the original install files/versions!

EDIT 2: I feel for the multiplayers though, I am strictly SP... But yeah, it sucks that they did not communicate this first though!

Welcome to the club. I am still in my system, but it was renamed. The Discoveries are totally messed up. Base is gone, Nalite Clusters (spelling?) vanished. Fortunately I could keep my 64 Mio creds. Suit and tool also filled with scrap tech.

I guess it is back to square 1. [sigh...]
Maybe someone would be kind enough to answer me some questions. I could probably bear a tech-reset and new systems since my base planet had been ruined weather-wise with the second to last major update and I haven't moved my base anywhere else yet.

But I for example acquired a rare S-class ship so I'd like to know:

- Are your freighter and starship collection still there?
- Did you notice any change of starship appearance?
- Do you only lose tech or are resources obsoleted as well?
- Are the Atlas and Centre mission paths still there? I haven't finished the Atlas path yet just beginning craft that special orbs and stuff. I also haven't yet unlocked any of the secret mysterious terminals on space stations. If this stuff was taken out I'd be very pi***d.

This is really bad of HG. With 1.3x at least we very warned about planet environmental changes and such and that a backup of save games is in order. It sounds like they almost made a new game out of it. Maybe a NMS R2 or NG or 2 as a separate release would have been a better fit. I did not invest 381 h just for nothing.

Thanks and regards,

Markus
