So far, back from the initial release 'way back when, I've only played a single "thread," although I've started over a couple of times as major updates dropped. But I was wondering how the game's logic handles multiple player instances.

Say for example I started two separate save slots in Normal mode and the avatar from the first slot travels to a given system and tags half the creatures on one planet. If the avatar from the second save later travels to that same system, does that avatar "own" the discoveries (they show up in yellow) or are they considered as having been discovered by another player (they show up in red)? If the second avatar tags the rest of the creatures, does that save get the credit and nanites?

If the first avatar built a base on that planet and the second avatar travels there, is the base visible to the second avatar? Is it owned by the second avatar? Can they each access storage, so that one instance can drop off something in a storage unit for the other to retrieve?

If the second avatar commits a hard save at a save point in the base and the first avatar hops to a new galaxy, what happens when the second avatar launches that save? Is the save point and the rest of the base no longer there?
I was wondering the same kinds of things, so your post gave the impetus to actually go and see.

Ragarding the discoveries (flora, fauna, planets etc.) If avatar 1 discovers 4 of 6 fauna and uploads them, they will show as discovered in yellow to avatar 2. Avatar 2 can go on to discover the final 2 fauna species and upload them. This seems to be account linked as both will say discovered by -account name- so Dysterble in my case, even though they were partials by two different games.
I tested it and it also works this way if one avatar is a normal mode game and the other is a creative mode game.

The base issue: I've tried various different scenarios and basically no. You can't see the bases. I tried first without uploading the base of avatar 1, avatar 2 did not see a base. Then I uploaded the base, and it is still unseen by avatar 2. So there were no interactions I could perform towards answering your questions.

Communications stations are visible though. I placed one for avatar 1, loaded avatar 2's game, all good, curiously avatar 2's communications station showed as 2 of them stacked on top of each other both with the same message. So although I'd only placed 2 between the 2 different games, there were 3 showing. It amused me for a second, I was tempted to start a 3rd game to see if hers would be a stack of 3.

Also of note, avatar 2 cannot place a base anywhere in the system. The base computer is not even in the menu as an option. Galaxy map is unavailable due to 'Portal interference' Edited to add: Also avatar 2 cannot shut down the portal whilst on avatar 1's side as it were, the control pedestal doesn't even rise.

So I guess we're stuck with the old fashioned pre-NEXT multiplayer(ish) stuff, until we get the full deal.
Hope that's of some use to you.

Interesting. Thanks!

Guess that means that I can't go off to find my old bases from eons ago. Drat!
