Will gog even have cross platform multiplayer at all? Or multiplayer in general? I feel really bad for buying this on Gog and my ghost multiplayer post never got an official response from any of the gog staff let alone the devs. If gog wishes to continue doing business with me on mainstream games they will have to give us the low down on things to come or I'll just buy a steam copy and be done with this issue. I'm excited for this but Gog isn't on the same page with us.
Well if you use the Galaxy client to run/install NMS on GOG you get some of the same functionality as you get from Steam, so maybe that way is how we will have to do it?

It would be nice to hear from either GOG or Hello Games on this specific issue (to help many people like yourself).

For myself i never wanted NMS to be a MP game, so i was always happy to have bought it here on GOG for the principle of not using Steam (and i don't use Steam) to ensure a better future for games and gamers.

If it turns out my GOG version can not be part of the MP aspect, then i'm fine with that. I'm mostly hoping Hello Games have been fixing stuff and adding new things to enjoy in the SP game modes, but the only official talk has been about MP, probably as this was the No.1 cause for all the negative feedback NMS got from day one.
If they don't I'm seriously considering my business futures with Steam..

I am very concerned that the GOG version won't receive this update or will get a stripped down version of the multiplayer like last time. Has multiplayer been confirmed for the GOG version specifically?

BTW Sean Murray said alot of stuff would happen, but most of it he never said would be available AT LAUNCH. Also he never promised a multiplayer experience like is being indicated for this NEXT update so it is a pure bonus pretty much. Still super disappointing if GOG doesn't get the full featured update. We paid full price after all.
I mainly run the Gog and only gog client and Ive seen the glowing spheres of people and other bases... it works here for me.. i also have the PS4 version (bought recently for my kiddos) and have once found myself but not again... doing network traces all i can assume are there are clusted instances of people.

this is why i think the 2-4 multiplayer statement was made. there going to an instanced mmo like system for people while retaining the persistent overworld for soloists as it stands now.

as for stripping down they simply cant do that because of how the game is designed. I can guarantee you that galaxy client will update first and it may take a few days to weeks for the stand-alone installers to get repackaged and shipped. They had some issues uploading to GOG's servers last time.

I am starting to get a little concerned about the GOG version of NMS. I know they are slow at updating promotional material, but the last post was for Atlas Rising 10 months ago. I'll feel a little better once I see NEXT mentioned on GOG and a networking menu in game (like you see in the Steam version).

I mean, surely, we paid $60 for the game, they can't just decide to stop supporting it on GOG can they? Offer us a Steam key instead I guess, but IM ON GOG FOR A REASON!

If they were able to continue supporting both versions (GOG and Steam) with the change updates, I am sure they will figure it out eventually. We just have to be patient. Took them a few years to get the game as it is now; if we're still playing, we will get what we eventually payed for ^^

Then again, I am an optimist.
Curious about how/if multiplayer will be seeing proper support on GOG too...

I agree. At the very least let us know what's going to happen. We spent money on this product through GOG and deserve better than to be in the dark. Bad business on NMS and GOG's side.
I keep seeing people saying they don't want Multiplayer. A whole lot of people do, and it is what is going to save this game and Hello Games.

I asked the same question on reddit and received the linked reply below. Read into it what you will, but my interpretation is it could go either way. JUST LET US KNOW GODDAMMIT!

Please GOG, respond to us and let us know if the NEXT update will be fully supported with crossplay on your platform. Transparency is veeeeeery important to all of us and we really need to know what the deal is right away!! I really don't want to have to regret not buying NMS on steam.

I almost feel that they are being silent for as long as possible because they KNOW they are going to lose customers if they say there is no multiplayer. They could have easily said "yea theres multiplayer" and everyone would be excited, but they chose the "uh oh just tell them we will have news when it launches" path which imo is a very bad sign for multiplayer. I just hope they allow us to refund it since they wont be supporting a major feature if that is indeed the case.

I'm trying to be optimistic: we'll wake up tomorrow and see that "NEXT will be fully supported on GOG," let's watch and see, but my steam library may be getting one game larger tomorrow.....
I hope steam have a sale for the release of the update, that way if we don't receive the update on GOG we at least wont have to pay full price for it again. I just hope GOG tell us somthing soon...
