as the title says.

i played for a while earlier, and quit the game as per normal. an hour or so later i loaded it up again, but now all it will do is start off a new game, putting me in a new position each time.

tried numerous restarts of game and pc. tried with and without Galaxy.

'load current' and 'load previous' seem to do nothing. i can see my save files and the time stamps indicate they are my original ones, and have not been overwritten by blank new ones BUT the game refuses to use them

i'm not about to write off 30+ hours and start again, especially considering this same shit will probably happen again in the new game

any ideas?

I don't think this will help for your old saves but it will help in the future.

Also did you try loading the 2 saves the game has in the upper right part of the "options" screen under "Save Game Data"

yes, that's what the 'load current' and 'load previous' bit was about.

---> also, i'll grab that savegame manager, but i don't think it will help for times like this - i can see my save files and already had backups of them. the problem is that the game can't/won't use them, even though they exist.

that's the great thing about the saved game manager, it will take a saved game from any folder and "export" it back into your last save so the game will start with that one. I have had to do it a coulpe of times when I ended up inside a rock or the ground.
i do have it set up, but the game still isn't recognising my old saves

with the save manager installed it initially told me i had 0 saves. later after a bit of fiddling and trying export/re-import it told me that i had 3 saves - but they still refuse to work, unfortunately

i have accepted that my old saves are gone, and have now started a new game. god help NMS if it destroys my saves again.

run "No Man's SaveGame Manager" while you are playing and it will have every save that the game makes while it was running. I would hate to in your position, and have to start over. Sorry it didn't work out for you.
