Maybe the RNG gods just smiled upon me but my planet wasn't all out trying to kill me in survival mode (so far).
The planet had a surprisingly light contingent of sentinels which made my gathering all that more easy. Every creature I've encountered so far has been either docile or timid. The planet I crashed on was unbearably hot but night time dropped to tolerable temperatures that I was able to make it to my ship with fairly little effort.
Of course, this was only because I was able to find scattered caves along my route that allowed me to hide during the day.
Now to fix my ship. The dang materials are a 10 minute hike according to my scanner and there's no cave in sight...
