Hi there.

Building and using the Signal Booster inside of a Structure will usually reveal the location of another Structure of the same type very reliably ('Locate Nearby Structures').

This has two advantages:

a) You can't accidentially pulverize yourself by hitting the right mouse button one time to many after placing the Singal Booster

b) No need for repeated use of expensive and rare Drop Pod Coordinates or Navigational Data items. Just speeding around in the planets atmosphere in low altitude, firing your ships scanner whenever it has been recharged, will, with a little luck and patience, spare you the use of these completely.

I usually get two to three Drop Pods / Manufacturing Facilities / Operations Centres out of every single one I find using this method, until the locations start repeating.

If they start repeating, fly to a different part of the planet. Rinse, repeat. With any luck you'll get new ones, instead of the Structures you've already found.

You can fit one of those suckers inside a drop pod?

Thanks for the heads up on this. Bloody hell, I just got to work and want to get home to try this out. This damned game's consuming me...
Yes, they fit -- I usually squeeze myself into either the left or the right corner next to the Exosuit extension dispenser, and put the Signal Booster right in the entrance of the Drop Pod. Also works, if the Signal Booster isn't completly inside of the Drop Pod.

In order to save on Launch Thruster fuel, fly close to the Drop Pod in question, and inspect the inside. If the diamond-like indicator inside the dispenser is red, you've alredy used this one.

Additionally, you can scan through the shield protecting the Drop Pods entrance. This way, I sometimes get >500K Units (3 S Class Scanner Modules, >80K per flora), by literally just standing inside of the Drop Pod, being protected from the elements and keeping the scan key pressed down.

I guess, having spent quite some time with a Drop Pod being one of two of my initial life savers on my very first Atlas Rises playthrough somehow made me inspect them a little closer :o)

Wow, great info. Thanks again. :)
Correction: I just tried to do the scans from high altitude, flying directly below the clowds, and do get a scanning hit almost every single time I start one instead of the more occasional hits, when scanning in low altitude.

Heck. Should've tried that much earlier :)
Also good for dropping them at a trading post to get better class ships to land.

What do you mean by that ? For farming ships, I usually just reload the automatic save done on exiting it after landing on a tradepost (found using the Economy Scanner), once I checked one or two waves of ships coming in.
