Does anyone have any idea why GOG would lock achievements in NMS? Two of my Milestone achievements in NMS, Zoology and extreme environments, will not advance as I stay on harsh planets or discover all animal species on a planet. The reason seems to be because the GOG achievements that are similar to those two are locked.
Four questions:
1. Did I do something that caused the lock?
2. Why did GOG lock achievements, and more importantly, why did they do it in a manner that inhibits game enjoyment???
3. How can I get these achievements unlocked so I can play the game I paid for and enjoy it like efverybody else?

Finally, 4. How do I file a bug report/complaint with GOG, as the more I think about this, the more P***** 0ff I get.

They all work for me. Just got a bump in the in-game Extreme Environment this morning. I'm max'd out on Zoology so I can't test that one directly.

As far as I know, those aren't GoG achievements as such, they're all fed by the in-game NMS milestones. I got the Renunion achievement during the second Community Research event, since some kind Traveler had placed a base marker near the exit portal.

How are you determining that the GoG achievements are "locked"? If they're simply grayed-out, that is just an indication that it hasn't been triggered yet.

Dashichi -

The reason I'm saying they're locked is because they are literally described that way in the GOG achievements list. The lock isn't coming from NMS, but it is prohibiting my in-game ability to advance those two milestones.
To reiterate, they are shown as "Locked" in GOG achievements; there is no indication that anything is wrong with them in NMS, other than the fact that they will not avance from their present scores.
I got to level 3 in one of them and level 7 in the other (don't recall which is which right now as not in the game) and then my progress was blocked. The ONLY reason I can find is that GOG has locked them on me for some reason. The reason I believ GOG is behind it is because they are the ones that are identifying them as locked.

Something weird going on there then. Looking at my list, none of them say 'locked', but there are some that are greyed out. Interestingly, I have no 'cheevos having to do with animal or plant scanning, although I'm at level 7 in fauna scans in-game. I do wish they'd show what's required in order to unlock the achievements. Would make it easier to see if there's an issue. Is there a listing of the requirements somewhere?

*edit* Okay, found the wiki pages describing the requirements. Have you uploaded via the Discoveries link in-game? I don't think I've done that yet, but from the wiki page it seems the achievement won't show until you do that.

Yes, I've been uploading discoveries pretty regularly because doing so provides additional nanites for upgrade modules. So, that's not the problem, at least in my case.
The ones I have, and there are several, are also greyed out but also say "Locked". The only two that appear to be inhibiting in-game Milestone advancement are the two I have described.

I've got to find out how to get in touch with GOG directly about this and see if they can or will do anything.
All the achievents I haven't got yet are greyed out and say Locked, that's always been the case for me on this game and others, but I think sometimes what happens when I actually fulfil the requirements, is that GoG Galaxy has lost the connection at that time so it doesn't trigger the achievement.

Also, I noticed a while back that when I used a cheat mod to learn all the words, I didn't get the galaxy achievement, but later in a different game I got it after I learned the triggering amount of words from npcs / knowledge stones etc. Might be just coincidence but I've no way to test that again now I have the achievement.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here, but just to make sure: when you upload your fauna discoveries are you doing the completed ones by using the big paw print at the upper right of the screen (not just the one at the bottom of the list beside the flora and waypoints)? I actually didn't know about this until after reading your thread and doing some googling to see what may be the issue. Last night I went through my list of planets in the Discoveries tab and noticed this pas print at the upper right after having read about it. It's beside where it shows how many of the fauna you've discovered out of the total on each planet. I had four that I'd discovered all fauna. Hit that button four times and the first achievement popped (A Scanner Darkly).

I also got the Stanger in a Strange Land achievement last night for extreme planet survival. That was after I hit the 20 sols milestone in extreme environments.

So not sure what the problem would be on your end unless Galaxy is having connection issues. I'll continue on (I'm trying to get full fauna on any planets I land on now) to see if I get stalled at any point in the milestones or achievements. I'll keep you updated, although it may take some time.

GOG has nothing to do with inhibiting your in-game advancement. As others have said, achievements you haven't completed yet are shown as "locked" in GOG. If you have completed them in-game, it's simply that GOG Galaxy hasn't updated in awhile, possibly because it's having problems connecting. That happens frequently.

What GOG shows doesn't matter. The list in Galaxy is only for social media addicts who have a burning need to "share" everything they do. The only thing that matters is what the NMS game client shows. If the achievement is unlocked in your journal, don't worry about it. If you did actually complete it and the game doesn't reflect that, then you have a problem with Hello. Not with GOG.

I completed a number of achievements in-game that never showed up in the Galaxy list, although they were in the achievements list in-game. That's all that matters. GOG Galaxy and whatever it does or doesn't do has no effect on your in-game advancement.

Just a quick update: last night I grabbed another star/level (5 total now) in animal scanning. I'm trying to get more, but that last animal always seems to want to hide forever. I'll update if I get beyond level/star 7, as that seems to be where you're having issues.

I now it's been a while, but took me a long time to finally find the last critter on a couple planets. Last night I dinged the 'Archivist' achievement in planetary zoology, so it seems it's working and nothing is blocked by GOG. I'll keep going to see if I can get the last one and update accordingly.

Okay, final update: I got my tenth planet with all fauna scanned and it dinged the achievement. So definitely not blocked by GOG.

I know this is months old, but did you ever get this sorted out? I ask because I've just knocked out the Survival level 10 achievement a couple days ago. I now have all possible achievements for GOG (there's one multiplayer 'cheevo that we obviously can't get yet). So nothing is blocked by GOG or NMS.
I've got an issue with the extreme survival acheivements not updating aswell, it's been like this for well over a year.

I've completed all the other achievements with no issues except for beating the game in permadeath mode which I haven't even attempted yet.

This game is so glitchy it makes Bethesda games look polished which is a pity because there's probably a great game buried beneath all the bugs.

Mine is 10, but it looks as tho, it could go even higher. Ill try and get a screen shot. Its still counting, and its been long finished. Also counting foot travel, and that one is finished, too. At 10.
