I wonder if HG is aware of the fact that the Gog Galaxy UI offers a beta channel for its "experimental" releases, just like Steamworks. To turn it on for NMS, open Galaxy, select NMS on the left, then navigate to the "More" button on the NMS page, left click it, scroll down to "settings" and select it, then look at the right-hand side of the NMS page and a new entry is present: "BETA CHANNEL"--default is off so turn it ON. It will then stay on until you use the Galaxy UI to turn it off, etc.

It does not appear as if HG is aware that they can release their "experimental" version on GOG as well as Steam--at the same time (Galaxy is the developer-direct update interface, just like Steamworks--GOG is not in the loop in Galaxy--GOG only is involved in the manual update patch backup regime.) Turning the Beta Channel on in Galaxy doesn't update NMS--apparently because HG hasn't sent the experimental 1.58 update to the Galaxy Beta Channel. Of course, if the player doesn't want the beta patches he can just turn the Beta Channel off, and so on. Shouldn't be any more difficult for HG to do it in Galaxy than it is for them to do it in Steam works.

BTW, looks like most Galaxy-installed GOG games have a Beta Channel switch. Only ones that don't are really really old titles, etc. To be sure, see if your games offer it and turn it on in Galaxy--or not--as your preference for running Beta updates may be...;)

My guess would be, that while they're aware of this (thanks for detailing how to enable it), they deem additional efforts possibly required to make experimentals available to us to not be warrantble due to supposedly quite limited reach of the platform compared to Steam. Also, I do not know, if GoG does have the resources to properly repackage them, if so required, and if these resources wouldn't be more properly used by assigning them to BAU tasks like catering for regular updates and such, anyway.

I'm tempted to say, that our userbase, while more limited in numbers, might quite possibly be a very valueable source of comparably high quality bug reports, nonetheless. But then, I don't have any insight into the plethora of reports Hello Games most probably gets swamped in already, much less into the quality of these.

Having said that: I very much would like us to be able to take part in the experimental builds, being able to give feedback on changes introduced.

I enabled the channel, I was never given the option to use a password?
I'm also a bit surprised what you're talking about waltc, I'm on experimental here on GoG since NEXT release. And it has also been discussed here how to enable this.
And of course the Galxy Client, analogous to the Steam Client, has a beta/preview channel in settings but just for the client UI/store/library itself.

And as USBhost said, when activating beta channel for NMS you should be prompted - maybe it is phrased channel name instead of password, I can't remember - yet there is where you enter "3xperimental" without the quotes. And to my positive surprise they're pushing to GoG with almost no delay after Steam experimental. I'm on 1.58C here on GoG which is a patched version of the stuff from 24th August (1.58 -> 1.58A -> 1.58B -> 1.58C).

As a supplement and @USBhost: Turning Beta Channels "ON" is only part of the story but you also have to select the channel/branch - there should be an "Add private channel" on the Channel dropdown and that's where you are asked for "Password".

Thanks, this was exactly what I was missing.
