Here's the story: I have tried to follow the instructions given in the forum thread "Running 75-100FPS maxed settings on 'average' rig, bla bla"

So I followed the instructions, the game ran at about 40FPS so it wasn't that bad (my "rig" is weaker than mayahana's)

But then, my PC froze. That usually happens when my CPU/GPU overheats, so I just forcefully restarted my PC.

The problem is, the game didn't launch ever since then. I tried re-installing but it didn't help.

Can anyone help me out?

EDIT: Before re-installing, I have also tried GOG's "Verify/Repair" in which it started "downloading" something. It kept showing 0.0MB and ran some Microsoft installers.

Your hardware SHOULD NEVER over heat kiddo.
Hardware overheating DAMAGES IT you might as well throw it in oven at 350F

overheating cpu's/gpus is typically 70/80/90C which is near 200F
Just throw some starter fluid on it and watch the flames.

Just throw it all in the garbage get new computer....
The hardware is no good

Who cares any way right?
You hated this bad game you "refunded" right?

Got your 60$ back right? You showed us!

Well, it isn't exactly overheating, but at first I assumed it was that, and I keep calling it that ever since the first "crash"

I really enjoy playing NMS, so no, I did not get a refund.

If you have anything helpful to say, that'd be great.
Don't hold your breath for anything helpful from him.

But if your hardware actually is overheating you should do something about it immediately.
As a first step open the thing up and try to clean out all the dust.
Make sure to ground yourself first to avoid static discharges and of course unplug the power.
You can buy compressed air cans for that but I never had any problems just using a vacuum cleaner. Just take care not to touch anything inside too much and don't spin the fans using the airflow. They might break or create reverse currents on the board. Most boards have circuitry to deal with it but you can't really know easily.

If that doesn't help you need to get new fans or underclock your hardware or limit your framerate. That you can do with MSI afterburner and riva tuner, even if you don't have an MSI graphics card.

No worries. Thanks for the advice!

Also, I managed to make it work, so this is thread is pretty embarrassing to have.
A can of air can`t be beat. Use them to clean and blow out dust every couple of months.
