Installed NMS using GoG Galaxy today, ran it. Went through shader loading sequence, mouse control was apparent, selected start and difficulty options, then went to a white screen with "Initialise…" in the center and a blinking E in circle and there it stopped. After about 15 minutes, restarted the game and tried again. Shader load much faster, option selection just fine, got to intialise… screen again and it fails. I have tried this multiple times, changed settings to run as administrator, disable full screen optimization, disabled window's 10 DVR, etc. Last attempt I left and let the initialize sit for 70 minutes and still nothing. Anyone have any experience getting past this or suggestions?

System Specs:
MSI X370 Pro Motherboard
AMD Ryzen 1600 @ 3.5Ghz
16 GB G. Skill Flare X 3200 RAM
EVGA GTX 1070 FTW

Have HWMonitor up and when it gets to this point it's still using memory, but almost no CPU utilization.

When you see E, keep pressing E.
If you didn't find out this, then I guess you will have a lot of problems with the game later...

Yeah, this got me too, back in the days of innocense and the 1.0 release. Took some Googling around to find the trick.

It's really not screamingly obvious that one needs to press and hold the E key. Is that a common convention on consoles? And why do they still do this, instead of simply "press any key to continue"? Grumble grumble.
I can see why you would suggest the E key as the solution, but I did actually know to do that. Must be all the Elder Scrolls Online where I learned it - if you don't play it, E is the main interaction key. Unfortunately it was unresponsive, sitting there, blinking at me in a taunting manner.
What did fix it was biting the bullet, uninstalling it and GoG galaxy (out of spite) and fresh downloading/reinstalling. Then, it just...worked.

Glad you sorted it out :)
Just to say: This 'keep pressing E' will often return during game!
