If anyone knows the general timeframe, that would be much appreciated. I'm just trying to determine if I should go play this on Steam or not (ie - will gog take months to do this?)

Was released on GOG about 12 hours ago through Galaxy.

The offline installers are not up yet but should be available tomorrow. These files have to be modified by GOG for compatibility (see posts from late 2016 and early 2017 where GOG explained this.

You have to factor in the fact that there is a significant difference in time zones between Poland, where GOG is located, and UK where Hello Games in located.

It usually is best to wait about a week or so to get most of the fatal bugs corrected. This also reduces the number of read/write cycles and, for those with data caps, bandwidth usage.

Ok, thank you for the details. I use Linux, and haven't yet found a reliable way to run Galaxy, so I rely on the manual installs. There is a rumor that the Heroic launcher can run Galaxy, so I'll try that out.

Recent versions of Heroic include comet as a Galaxy replacement (https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2024/08/next-heroic-games-launcher-release-to-include-initial-gog-galaxy-support/).
Just login to your GOG account in Heroic and install NMS from your library. The required libraries will be installed automatically allowing the game to connect to GOG online services and enable multiplayer and unlock GOG achievements.
Galaxy installation is not needed anymore :)

Heroic was able to apply updates (after 6.1 files had been posted on GoG). But as of Sept 1 with the 6.2 patch, Heroic cannot upoate the game, it just crashes.
