I'm now playing with the foundation update (1.13)
Signal boosters are now part of your construction tools, very easy to build with some plutonium and iron. When I place them I always get the same 4 categories of things to look for, It never pointed me to a crashed ship.
I wonder anyway if once you place them you get more easily location messages, distress signals and/or the location of crashed ships compared to the case where you don't place them. This would be logical, but maybe it isn't so, I just don't know.

The only time I find a crahed ship is in an observatory station with one alien, I answered the math puzzle and got a location. But can the signal booster help me too?

Thanks.

That mod doesn't work. I find the ship locator mod, gives off orange smoke when you get close. works great. It will crash the game if you shoot the box however.
No, i'm not using a mod for it, it's part of the standard game (the only mod I use is the Fly Low mod). I mean the signal booster you can place when you hit Z and navigate io it. I have used it with success to find Colonial Outposts which turned out to be Manufacturing sites, Drop Pods, Habitable Bases (the ones you use to start building), and xxxxx (don't remember). You immediately get a waypoint to these destinations when you interact with the signal booster.

Yes, in foundation, they do lead to crash sites. Takes longer to grind up to a 48 slotter, since Sean Murray is forcing us to build them, willy nilly, now. Smoke cloud on wreck site mod, I hope gets patched up, game is not too gamey, replay-wise, without that crucial shortcut. Remember, each replay, we gotta relearn the 2000 some words, also. Just saying, a bunch of repetitive actions.

Thanks for the help. I think the fastest way to find crashed ships is to look for big antenas which is a beacon or observatory. But upgrading your ship with this method takes long...loonnggg...I found a lot of ships since then, but only those with 1 more slot, or less slots. Dismantling them gets you a lot of ressources, but it takes you only very slowly to bigger ships. I think I will spend some millions to buy one just to save some time...

The ship locator mod still works in F 1.13 as long as you don't shoot the orange box. That will cause a CTD.
Good tip, right there. Replayability enhancers, rock. Default game, has no real replayability. Since ship comparability feature is so lacking in detail and robustness in analysization. Thanx for sharing tip. Ill watch were I shoot, a crzsh, when shipless, can be a rage quit sitop.
