Do screen shots not work via GOG or NMS on the GOG version?

Cant find them and I know the work in the Steam version via both and at one time did in GOG but can't find them now

NVM, I figured out where they were going, in the windows picture folder account. (For anyone searching this later)

Strange...
In my setup Galaxy Client has placed Screens (by F12 ingame) here:
C:\Users\<your account name>\Documents\GOG Galaxy\Screenshots\No Man's Sky

And to my knowledge, there is no way to adjust this within the Client.

Two different things.

Photomode goes to Pictures//No Mans Sky and saves as a bmp

F12 goes to Gog Galaxy and is a .png

Weird. I've been bad and have just assumed that the photo mode and F12 captures were working (the curse of digital photography ... take a gazillion pictures but never look at them). Just checked both locations. The GOG Galaxy\Screenshots\No Man's Sky directory's last screenshot was on 22 June. Pictures\No Man's Sky last entry was a month before that, on 23 May.

I "know" I've taken shots recently with each method. I have no clue what has changed to send them to the bit bucket.
Screenshots in Photo Mode do work but have nothing to do with GoG Galaxy AFAIK. They are located in

C:\Users\[USER]\Pictures\No Mans Sky

Me too. I have captures up to July 2017. I suspect that something in the Atlas Rises update (released in August 2017) killed the save feature here. I still get the brief note on the screen that it's saving, but nothing shows up in that folder with the older captures.

What I've been using instead is the capture feature of the Nvidia overlay. That works okay and can also capture video during gameplay.

How about checking disk space usage after taking a few screens, either using No Man's Sky's Photo Mode or GOG Galaxy's Overlay F12-function ?

If the free disk space gets lower, there's a good chance, snaps are actually taken and stored. Then search your drive(s) for wildcards fitting the naming conventions of either:

- YYYY-MM-DD*.png for F12. Example: 2018-08-23*.png
- MMM-DD*.bmp for Photo Mode. Example: Aug-23*.bmp

Tedious, but might work out, and reveal the location they're actually stored.

Thanks for the hint about the Nvidia overlay, never thought of that -- F12 is about the only reason I'm using Galaxy, and the overlay keeps crashing on me, if I'm not online when starting the game.

Good idea! Hadn't thought of trying that, so I gave it a test this morning. The before/after difference was 5220 bytes. Haven't tracked down where that was -- probably in the %APPDATA% save file. That's too small for the screen capture that I tried; the screen shots from last year were all 6,076 KB.

Also checked using File Locator, which is really quite a nice little utility. No sign of the newer captures.

Wondering if it may be a side effect of installing the Nvidia utility? Not sure when I enabled that but it could have been around the time that Atlas Rises came out.

Not having the Nvidia GeForce Experince installed, of which the Nvidia overlay seems to be part of -- but it seems like you can disable Nvidiias overlay without deinstalling the GeForce Experience in the settings. Another thing might worth trying without too much of a disruption of an otherwise fine working system.
