Hi! I've been trying MP, but it doesnt seem to be working.

If I join a random game, I can see the other player, but there is never any text or messaging between us, and often the other player shoots through me as if he can't see me.

If I play my own game and try to invite my Gog friends, the friends list stays empty. Nobody ever shows up on the list.

I've got the multiplayer stuff turned on under the Network settings.

Is there a problem with my system, or do I smell funny and people don't want to play with me? :)

Thanks!

At least I can now confirm that I had your game in the lobby and could join it. Ingame chat worked, too. Also I can't confimr any funny smell ;)

Confirmed it worked today with me. Thank you for joining! I was actually going to ignore you since we were watching TV outside of the game and I hadn't expected someone to show up. Very glad I did say hello back!
How does that work?
I have a friend I would like to play with, but our Anomaly instances were different. We didn't see each other on there. Also, the invite button under network settings doesn't work. The Galaxy Overlay won't work, either... sooo... how does this work, exactly...?

Did not work for me until we made sure we had the same version running.
If you join your friends game (main menu) you start in his system and build a group. If you want to go to the same anomaly everyone has to summon it and go in while you are in the group. You should be in the same instance.

If you are not 'friends' in galaxy you have to search him in the universe. When you are near him, you can build a team :)

I'm somewhat surprised that there are different instances of the anomaly in the GoG universe at the same time. I thougt one instance would have been enough for all gog players who are online...
Oh, so the empty "join others" thing at the menu is because none of my friends have been playing when I peeked in? It doesn't show random people? Because my list has always been empty.

Yes, random joining does not work (any more) from main menu. You don't need it anyway. You can go to the Nexus. It's way better solution.

No, it's not a solution if I can't find my friend in there because we're in different instances...!

You can join friends and travel to the same instance as described above. Only random games work different now (Nexus).
Do we both have to have specific settings for the list in the Main Menu to show each other's games?

Network enabled, yes. But other than that? The "can join" part is about grouping with randoms, right?

Also, how does that work. If I am at the Nexus, for example. My bases are uploaded to the servers. My base computer shows up at the teleporter while I'm there, and random players from the Nexus can download and visit my base?

Can they cause any harm? I set PVP and base building to group / friend only. Group is invite only. Can they still go to my base and do stuff with the Matter Manipulator, and will that be synced to my game or just on their end? And if so, I can't hide my base from the Teleporter at the nexus, can I? I'd still like to be able to play with select friends, I know I can just completely disable Network in settings, but I don't want to do that just because there might be a chance of someone griefing.

I just don't know exactly where the borders are between single, multi, online and offline play. That's deliberate by design, it would just be helpful to know.
