I am running the GOG version of No Man's Sky and I am unable to delete saved games.

Or rather, I can delete them, either through the game or by deleting the actual files. After this, the .hg files are gone, by inevitably come back a day or two later.

So now I have an ever growing list of game saves that I would like to clean up and I can't get rid of them (at least not for good).

The game save files I am talking about are the .hg files in C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS\DefaultUser.

Do you have cloud saves enabled in Galaxy? Many Steam users have problems with this overwriting recent saves with old saves.

Turn off cloud saves in Galaxy by clicking on the Gear icon the Settings then Game Features.
