This is how I imagine my character looks ingame. He`s a vet soldier of a vicious civil war who has decided to leave it all and go `walk about` through an uncharted part of space for a very long time, taking his good ol` survival suit and mutitool, patched and ready to go.

One man and the vast expanse.
Wow, great artwork!!!!

I don't have a picture but I did come up with a fairly fleshed out backstory for my character, which is somewhat inspired by Farscape:

In the year 2295, earth has developed basic FTL travel and colonized the solar system as well as some close by star systems. The Directorate for Exploration, Science, Engineering and Technology (DESET) is testing a new kind of trans-dimensional drive, that theoretically should allow instantaneous travel to any point in the universe by removing the ship from 4-dimensional space and reinserting it at the target coordinates.
My character, an engineer and test pilot for DESET is the first to try this new technology. The new drive itself is not installed on the ship itself but on a space station above Mercury. The pilot and the ship were supposed to be transported to another station in Neptune's orbit. However, the scientists in charge are concerned that if something should go wrong, the ship (and pilot) could potentially end up ... well, anywhere and at any time. So, in preparation for the test flight, the pilot gets extensive survival training and is issued all the equipment needed to survive under a variety of conditions, just in the highly unlikely event that something does go wrong and he survives.
Well, obviously something did go wrong and he wakes up next to his damaged test ship on an unknown planet with no idea where he is. According to his suits internal chronometer, only a few seconds have passed since the test began at Mercury station but of course that doesn't mean much. After leaving the space time continuum, he could be trillions of light years from earth and at a time when Sol went supernova a long time ago or maybe it doesn't even exist yet. So, he sets out, first to survive and in search of answers, where and when he is and if there is any chance to ever make it back to earth.

Thanks. And very nice backstory too. You went to some real effort there. Really adds something to his journey.

I wonder if there are any more people with such immersive ideas for their character?

Very nice, for some weird reason I always considered my character's suit to have similar colors to yours.

We think alike! By the way, I`m also a big Conan fan, maybe that`s got something to do with it!

It's a possibility :)
Perhaps you are also a fan of Exolon on the Atari ST?

Well that`s going back a bit. I remember that game, but never played it. I see what you mean about the blue look.
