I'm not using a game controller because I can't handle it very well and I'm more familiar with just keyboard + mouse. But the makers have 'punished' this method by not including some features like the cockpit lookaround.
I suspect there are undocumented keyboard commands, some of them very useful like zooming in and out the cockpit view or getting quick access to some menus etc., all of which are not listed in the Control Options. This came to my attention when I made some random trials but I didn't yet take notes of them.

I'm especially searching for the zoom in / zoom out cockpit - which I know is possible, because sometimes if I enter my ship the cockpit view is screwed up, I cannot see my radar or velocity MFD.

Did you find some useful non-documented keyboard commands? Or do you have a link to a list of such?

All I found was Z, rotary menu, which seems to not work so great on keyboards.

You can press 'T' on galaxy map to hide waypoints dots on the top and keys info on the bottom of the screen.
Nothing to write home about, but still better than nothing...

...and no, there's absolutely no way to look around (or zoom) in your cockpit unless you plug a controller or use a mod.

Thank you for your inputs! I will continue with searching by making some random trials, this time I will note what I find and add it here if I can reproduce it.

Especially the 'Diplomat ship' has at least 3 cockpit modes, unless it's a bug in the visual:
- sitting extremely left in the cockpit; the cockpit frame is slightly moved to the right
- sitting extremely behind which will show all the MFDs + an empty zone which could be your seat
- The normal seating which only shows part of radar, left and right MFDs are hidden unless you accelerate strongly.
Very strange all this, maybe it has something to do from what direction you enter the ship ? I cannot explain these different views, but they *exist* and I found no key command yet that would influence them.

Note: Changing the FOV in the options (or in the xml file !) will change the outer space view, but not the cockpit AFAIK.
