Hello fellow GOGers!

Anybody can tell me if it runs smooth with latest GPU patch 16.8.2 from AMD for NMS with a similar set up like mine or at least close?

i7 3770k
290x 4GB
16GB RAM
SSD
WINDOWS 10 64BIT

Thanks in advance.

Depends on your definition of smooth. There is some hitching here and there, most notable when entering and leaving planets and systems but otherwise it's pretty ok. More than playable for me.

Ok thanks for reply.

Did you notice any difference with newest patch for AMD which supported NMS?
No change really, game keeps crashing and it's graduated to crashing the entire system half the time.

This is what seems to be the culprit:
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{6B3B8D23-FA8D-40B9-8DBD-B950333E2C52}
and APPID
{4839DDB7-58C2-48F5-8283-E1D1807D0D7D}
to the user NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.
Seems to happen every time in Windows 10, and I can't change the permissions that would require it. Even when I run the dcomcnfg as admin, it doesn't allow me to do jack. That's the Shell Service Host, by the way, the program that is the problem.

Didn't help that I added myself into the DCOM Users group in the MS Management Console, which should allow me to run things.

This shit is getting pretty deep into the Windows innards, so I suggest if you don't know what you're doing, stay far away from it and wait for a patch. It's mostly new to me as well.

I'm not sure. I only played a tiny bit before downloading the latest AMD drivers. Maybe it's a little better.

You need Opengl 4.5 just FYI!!
I'm running an r7 250 (which benchmarks lower than the 7870) and with the graphics on medium/low it runs fine. I'm also running an amd a10-6800k for my cpu, 16gb of ram, and an ssd. It runs fairly smooth, but like I said, medium to low on all graphic settings.

Runs surprisingly well (ie, almost playable) on a Samsung laptop:

i5-3230M (8GB)
HD 8750M (2GB DDR3)
Radeon 16.8.2
Win7

Ok thanks guys for the replies.
this might be something that improves framerate for everyone in general. NMS in settings .mxml has a line for gsync=true. I think setting to false will improve it for everyone.
i7-5820K @ 3.3
64GB RAM
Installed on an External 7200RPM HD over eSATA.
Win7 SP1 64-bit
MSI Radeon R9 270 2GB GDDR5

Everything ran perfectly with and without tweaks. Running at 60+fps.
AMD Anthlon II 630 quad (whopping 2.8ghz)
8gb ram
HD6950 2gig
Win 10 x64

The day before PC launch systemrequirementslab.com said my PC could run it (before SSE 4.1 requirement was known).

With OpenGL extension viewer my GPU scores a 90% on version 4.5 (only shading language version 4.5 is unsupported)

After reading about SSE4.1 emulation at https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/4xene1/pc_crash_thread/ I actually got it to not crash with my potato. At the hello world screen it actually played music periodically between "application not responding" notices.

I didn't let it run long enough to get past the hello world screen with my CPU maxed at 99% (less than 5 minutes, probably 2), in all honesty I'm surprised I got it to even do that.

Gone are the days when system requirements where it was as easy as CPU speed and ram, then came GPU's, then came multiple cores, then came variations in speeds between CPU manufactures. My only beef when min system requirements list actual components is I shouldn't be the one who actually has to do comparative research. What sucks even more is there are multiple Intel core i3's.

I probably wouldn't have even bought NMS if an actual CPU speed was listed as well as the SSE4.1 requirement, I would have waited until I made a new PC.

I hope this post actually makes someone laugh.
i7-4770
8GB Ram
R9-270
Win 7 SP1 64 bit

Was getting a lot of crashing until I installed the latest beta branch of AMD crimson (16.8.2)
Now the game is relatively stable (haven't crashed since) but performance is nothing to write home about.

Should probably go 16GB soon. I think the game is slightly starving at 8.
it isn't running on my system, because the CPU...

Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 940 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.0GHz -> goes till SSE 4a
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: AMD Radeon (TM) R7 360 Series(2GB) supports Open GL 4.5

can only waiting for the hotfix - i hope it comes till 27.8.16
I got:

i7 3770k
AMD 290x
16gb ram
SSD
windows 10 64bit

SQtill not sure when i looks at videos shown on twitch and youtube it looks terible.

This video on the other hand looks great im confused?

Any of you with AMD have same kind graphics as in this video?

P.S Wish there was GOG streamer showing how it runs.
