These are probably pretty stupid questions - but...

1) As a PC user a LOT of moving around involves using the "W" (Forward) key for long periods of time, which unfortunately with diabetic neuropathy can be a bit painful, holding the key down. There doesn't seem to be a way to "toggle" the W key in the NMS options, so does anyone by chance know an alternative way of doing that? There might even be a way of setting it up from outside the game (double clicking W or something) any help would be VERY much appreciated!!!

2) I setup a First Aid station and the info given says it charges up "Health", which I thought was Life Support, or even maybe Hazard Protection, but it doesn't seem to effect either of those - SO, does anyone know just what it effects, or where I can see what my current "health" is? So far, I can't "see" where a First aid station does anything for my character...

Thanx!!!

Only thing I can think of offhand is if your keyboard supports macro keys (and you've installed the software for it), you may be able to program it for that specifically for NMS.

You know when you run into one of those damned plants that act like a whip and hit you as you walk by? They take away your health, and the health bar pops up in the upper left of the screen. That's what the First Aid replenishes. I thought it meant Life Support as well, until I noticed what happens with those plants. Not sure how to see it otherwise. I've never actually tried as it's only those plants, the biological horrors (or the sentinels) that seem to deplete it. The former are negligible. I don't muck about with the horrors much, and I have a pretty good shield so don't worry about sentinel attacks much either.
As Terrible notes, a programmable keyboard may be the way to go. I have one (a Logitech G150) but, being a lazy ol' pfart, I haven't explored it's capabilities very far. It does look like the Logitech software will let you assign "toggle W" to one of the programmable keys (six available in this particular model; others have more, I believe).

You might also look at remapping the keyboard functions. I hate WASD. After finally learning to touch type, now the resting position is with the middle finger extended? How appropriate. ASDX (S = forward, X = back) is much easier on the fingers. SDFC is probably even better, since it keeps the "real" home row and the usual bump on the F key as a tactile clue.

Anyway, try remapping Forward to the space bar and Jump/Jetpack to W, or some variation on that theme. Could probably even rig up something to keep the space bar depressed while you leave the room for a soda if you're in a long flight from the sentinel ships.

I guess they are pretty useless for normal mode. I installed them in my capital ship and like you hoped that they replenish the more needy Exosuit systems like life support and the various hazard systems too. But by the time I reach the stations whatever they do has replenished itself already. I left them where they are as deco; maybe they get some general usefulness added in the future.

But right now probably only useful in survival.

Hi Dashiichi,

I use a steelseries keyboard (with TONS of programmable keys) that my son gave me (it's too big for his desk...), but programming this thing (especially without the manual!) takes a brain surgeon with a degree in engineering!!! I just contacted Steelseries and hopefully they can send me something that will help

Thanx!!!

EUREKA!!!! - I sent a request for information to Steelseries and I now have a key that is an "Auto-Run" key!!! What a DIFFERENCE this makes!!!

Thanx to ALL who made suggestions on this - it REALLY helps (especially with the Diabetic Neuropathy!)
