Want to support the sequel that never came? Wanna show the publishers, that space games are still popular among the players? Then please go and support the Nexus 2 Kickstarter campaign coming straight from the original devs of the first game.

Great news indeed, I hope they'll meet their goal :)

I am so joining the backers club. I pray to god that there are enough dedicated Nexus players out there to get this project off the ground!

Edit: Also, thanks for the update, Arparso!

FINALLY :-) Man I want this game sooo bad. Problem is, their campaign video looks a bit boring. I still hope it gets backed.
First FTL, the funding of new Broken Sword and Tex Murphy game and now Nexus 2! Kickstarter now has my complete loyalty. I sincerly hope that this gets funded because not only is Nexus my all time favourite game of all time but it is what convinced me to join GoG.
Can someone explain this to me: http://www.moddb.com/mods/warhammer40k-battlefleet-nexus/news/nexus-2-back-in-development-looking-for-funding

Did they try to get it funded a year ago as well? Didn't it work? Are they the same guys? They used the same video, that the kickstarter-guys claimed was 6 years old.

Yes, they already tried it a year ago. Not on Kickstarter, but on a similar and now defunct website called Games-Plant. They didn't reach their funding goal, only got to about 300,000 out of 400,000 Euros, if I remember correctly. Because they didn't reach that goal they never got any money out of it and couldn't start development. Remember that this happened way before Double Fine's incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign, which basically started the recent Kickstarter craze.

Also yes, these are the same guys (Most Wanted Entertainment / HD Publishing).

And yes, they used the same video and yes, that video is indeed now 7 years old. It got produced in 2005 and got leaked some time afterwards. Supposedly it was a tech demo they were showing to publishers and investors back then to get the funding for a sequel. It was in circulation long before their funding campaigns... for example, here is a Youtube version uploaded in 2006:

I hope they succeed, i really do. But the number they ask for seems a bit far.
I don't know, the original is not well known... :(

Yes it is a very high goal, still I hope it will get the funds.
Only thing is that timing might not be good as Nexus: TJI was only released on GOG a few weeks ago. If it was longer, say a year or so, more people would have a chance to play it and getting funds would be easier.

Yeah, but it was out on steam since a while. I don't know how many got sold though.

Backed ! :D plz plz this time
I backed it also. Game sequels have been doing very well on Kickstarter, if the original game was very popular. Don't know if Nexus: the Jupiter Incident fits that description, but I hope the Kickstarter campaign succeeds. It would be a great thing if game developers could tell publishers that they are wrong when they say there's no market for X kind of game.
Pledged but it seems it is going very slow. They have some marketing issues so it seems.

I do hope they are working on new material feverishly. Really, while I absolutely believe that they are contacting every major website out there for coverage, I feel that they have hardly posted anything substantial.
Am about to pledge now and I would agree with some of the other posts in that it does look like its very quiet on the marketing front. Other kickstarters have been all over the gaming press. Nexus 2 is barely mentioned in a google search :( Hope they can kick (Pun not intended) it up a notch as there are only 17 days left and Nexus 1 was and still is an amazing game.

P.S. Its hidden at the bottom but everyone who pledges on >= $20 kickstarter will get a DRM free copy of the game!

Noticed the Early Bird tier having 1 out of 2000 pledges left´, so I took it for fate and gave a pledge.

I must say their presentation has increased tremendously, I think there is no longer telling if they can pull this off or not. (I admit I thought they'd fail earlier)
