I could use some help if anyone has experience with this problem.
I spent 4 hours this week trying to get NWN EE set up and working. It seems that no matter what I do, when I attempt to launch the game, I get the mouse wheel spin for 3-5 seconds and then nothing happens except that nwmain.exe will be running as a background process viewable in Task Manager. This occurs when attempting to run the game from GOG Galaxy AND when trying to run it from the standalone install (both install files from GOG website). One thing I think is likely related is that when the game installs it seems to not be creating a folder that is referenced in a lot of troubleshooting I read through. I do have the primary NWN install directory, but there is also a folder that should be along the C:/user/profilename/documents file path that isn't being created during install. I found that folder on my old HDD in that location and copied it over to the SSD in the same location, but nothing changed. The folder isn't installing elsewhere either, nor is it a hidden folder.
PC is running a fresh install of Windows 11 on a new SSD. There is a secondary drive (HDD) that has my old windows install on it which was also windows 11 and *had* a working install of NWN EE.
Things I have tried:
Everything listed in the GOG/NWN FAQ and support section
Disabling antivirus during both download and install
Running in every compatibility mode available
Running as administrator (both GOG Galaxy and NWN itself)
Updating drivers
Unlinking and uninstalling OneDrive pre- and post-install
Whitelisted in windows firewall
and a few other things that I'm sure I've forgotten about
I'd be greatly appreciative if anyone has some insight on this
