Better late than never.
Awesome! Really like when the sporadic releases of modules for the game, feel a bit like getting a surprise present from your mom in the mail for no reason other than that she saw something and thought you would like it. :)
What is the "AL series" they mentioned in the article by the way?

The only bad thing about this is I have so many other RPG's on the backlog I own and want to play, and with the addition of the fan modules getting featured in the launcher I have even more campaigns getting added to that list all the time.

My focus now is to complete Disco Elysium, then Darkness Over Daggerfurd, followed by NWN 2. Then I will see what to play next.

AL1: Siege of Shadowdale (Canceled Premium Module)
AL2: Crimson Tides of Tethyr (Canceled Premium Module)
AL3: Tyrants of the Moonsea (Canceled Premium Module)

The last one was enhanced and made into a DLC for the EE.

I own TotM but haven't played it yet, so should I play the two first modules first?

It definitely isn't necessary, albeit you might feel a bit underleveled with a new character and no higher level items for the first few battles. Gets much easier after that. There's a couple of callbacks to the other modules, but only minor.

That's what I did but it's up to you. They each have their own, self-contained story. There is an overarcing ... plot(?) that is hinted at, but that's only in the background, and it does not get resolved, not even in Tyrants. So if you have played the other two modules, occasionally some things in Tyrants will sound a little more familiar to you, but it is by no means required or all that important for your enjoyment of the DLC.

AL1 is a pretty basic module from the early days of NWN, nothing much to write home about. But it's also rather short, IIRC. AL2 is longer, mostly linear but pretty good in its own right. When I transferred my character from AL2 to the Tyrants DLC with all equipment, she was pretty overpowerwed though. Hardly any battle in Tyrants was a challenge for her and most of the powerful equipment I found was useless to me, because I already had good stuff. So that could be the downside of going through the whole series first. Not sure if that is due to any changes in the EE version or whether the experience would have been the same when transferring the character to the old AL3. A new character will be leveled up accordingly in Tyrants, but won't have all the powerful equipment right from the start. Then again, Tyrants seems pretty Monty Haul in general, so even if you start out with worse equipment, I doubt it would take that long to get to where I was with my superior starting outfit.

That's why I can't give you a clear recommendation for or against playing the other two modules first. If you already have enough on your plate, just playing Tyrants is completely fine. But if you're anything like me, you might enjoy AL2 as well. Dunno.

I posted reviews for all three here on the forums, btw, if you think skimming them might help.

Siege of Shadowdale is very, very barebones, yes. It was one of Luke Scull's first attempts at making a NWN mod, and it kinda shows. You can skip it without much issue, I feel. However, Crimson Tides of Tethyr is much more fleshed out and polished, and it and Tyrants of the Moonsea are well-worth a playthrough, in my opinion.
I bought the Tyrants of Moonsea DLC. It was really good! I haven't played the other two previous modules and had no real difficulties with the story.

Definitely looking forward to Blades of Netheril!

Even after all these years and flashier games, I still find NWN to be one of the best D&D RPGs out there.

I really love the inventory graphics and sounds in NWN. The potions look really crisp and I love the little bubbling sound they make when you move them, and same goes for the gems. The little *BING* sound is super nostalgic to me.
It's also super cool how many awesome full length campaign modules there are for the game, you can play ten different ones and still have hundreds more worth playing.
A Wizard is never late, and all... Great to know Luke won't let his fans down!
Some news and a trailer:

Well, it surely touches some strings :)

Just finished playing IWDEE (back in the days I bought but never played the series due to lack of time) and planning a run of IWD2. So, probably it will come out "just in time" :D
