Having an issue with this. Didn't see it in the stickies ( could have completely missed it most likely.) and couldn't find it online.

So my brother (and eventually 2 more brothers and dad) want to all play on a module I've made. We're able to get it to work through LAN (at least 2 of us. Still working on the multiplayer CD keys through GOG.) But we're trying to figure it out how to do it through internet multiplayer by Direct Connect.

> We've tried doing it all through the NWN game client. We both "log in" to multiplayer (Yes, I know gamespy doesnt exist anymore.) I start an internet game, select my module, and I'm in and good to go. Now my brother, who lives in another state, tried to Direct Connect using my IP (from whatsmyip.org) and it fails. I believe the server is found, but the server times out.
> We've tried doing it through the NWServer client, setting up the server from there, to no success.

Has anyone found a solution to this?

EDIT: I would like to add, our goal is just so we all can connect on the same server, and preferably through direct connect (as it should work regardless of if the game servers don't work). Unless required, we shouldn't need to connect to an active server room and open one up on there, correct?)

I am no expert but did you share your module with them?

No need. You only need to share hakpacks and other custom content with other players. That's why you can play on persistent worlds without downloading anything.

Still, it IS worth trying if it works the other way around. Email the module to your brother and then have him host and try to log in on his server. I've had problems with this myself in the past, when the multiplayer services were still working. Unfortunately I never managed to figure out WHY people couldn't connect to my IP.

Also, try to connect to some random other servers to see if the game itself is working properly.
You need to open up some ports.
