Neverwinter Nights is kind of unique in the RPG world, or so it seems.

I really like the style, camera view, narrative, and mechanics of NN. I also like that there isn't a lot of boring party management busywork (like in BG).

What are some other games I should look at that hit some of the same notes? Even if they aren't D&D games!

- NWN2 (is the obvious choice)
- Knights of the Old Republic (almost exactly same mechanics as NWN, only simpler&smoother)
- KotOR 2 (from the NWN2 folks)
- Jade Empire (more actionish, other than that, just like KotOR)
- Shadow Sun (only for mobiles, from the folks that made Darkness over Daggerford for NWN)
From what I remember Kotor1 had a lot of party magament, but it was RPG like so it fit. If you don't like party management then have you tried single character RPGs like Elder Scrolls games? Or hack and slash like Nox?

Yeah, but simplified compared to Baldurs and other D&D's.
All party members have equipped items, but instead of their own bags and stuff, the main inventory is shared.
(and you only carry 2 sidekicks around, the rest wait at base)

I kind of like NWN's inventory tetris, but didn't miss it in KotOR.

KOTOR is more like Mass Effect or Dragon Age. 2 of your crew follow you but the inventory is shared. And you dont have to control them individually, they follow you everywhere. Also, KOTOR is my favorite game of all time.
I liked the amount of control I had from followers in kotor1 and I like the more strategic less action game play. It would most likely be one of my favorites if it wasn't a star wars setting. I never really liked star wars. Why couldn't NWN1 be more like kotor.... drat

Have you tried out Shadow Sun?
The gameplay is almost exactly the same as in KotOR, only in a kind of fantasy Persian setting.

Never heard of it but I'll check it out. I still have nwn2 and pillars of eternity to try as well as wanting to squeeze in some more BG1 before the new expansion. Probably some others I'm forgetting. Lots of games here to catch up on.
