I have been a player on PotM off and on for a long time and just wanted to make a strong suggestion to other players out there looking for a challenging (and unforgiving) multiplayer experience.

The atmosphere is dark and the learning curve is difficult, you'll most likely lose your first couple of characters to the starting enemies until you get the hang of things. Grouping is a must and encouraged to reach many areas through out the game. You'll experience many moments of running in sheer terror from werewolves and other various enemies because if you die you drop your equipped weapons, your gold, and you can lose experience if you choose to resurrect.

Experience is slow to acquire and the emphasis isn't on blazing to level 20, it's about enjoying the environment and other players company. You can get to level 6 in a week or two of casual playing before things start to slow down. People make names for themselves hunting monsters or being crafts men, traders, and herbalists. If you're good at your crafting profession (which is custom made for the server and impressive) people will actively seek you out for your services because they heard from a friend about your work.

I'm not advocating "Come play here and feel special, all the while snubbing action servers" but what I am saying is if you're looking for an unique role playing experience unlike anything else on NWN then stop by and see how it goes. I've been playing NWN since it came out and still come back to PotM for a refresher course in awesomeness.

Even if you're not big into RP I'd recommend stopping by to see if your gaming/build skills are up to the test to survive on the server. For anyone that has played BG1 and relished in the agony that was the beginning stages of the game this server is for you. Some might argue you have to be a masochist to truly enjoy this server, but I have to say this server has made me think out my decisions on a tactical level every time I venture, ensure I was prepared and had two escape plans if things go wrong (which they almost always do).

The DMs are very active and it's common to be having a casual adventure only to have a group of vampires suddenly blocking your retreat from the dungeon.

All in all I can't recommend this server enough. I played for the first time in 4 months yesterday and instantly remembered why I love the server and had to share it with the community here.

What's the general story? What are the factions? Is there a clear good and evil, or is it more vague like ASoIAF?
And what's the level limit? How do they encourage RP over PG? And, could you compare it to Arelith?
I'd love to have a partner in any multiplayer game :) I play a Fighter/Blackguard or Druid/Shifter
