So...

I need a new game to keep me occupied for a while. I never played much of the NWN back when I still had it, but I heard that the expansions are way better than the first game.

However, I'm very curious if people are still playing the persistent MMO-type worlds.

Is there still a good community? Or did NWN2 kind of take over!

There's still plenty of great servers out there. You'll want to get online and try some out. Just check out PWAction or PWStory.

Neverwinterconnections.com is still up (I think) if you want to try multiplayer planned campaigns (IMHO, that's the most fun that can be had with the game -- PW games tend to have a lot of down time and tedium from my experience -- but all are still amazing fun).
Cool thanks!
Sorry for the slight necro..

I used to play on this incredible PW server about 8 - 10 years ago I think. I wish I could remember the name of it. It was full PvP, and there were good, evil and neutral factions. They'd have big fights from time to time. The evil guys would go around and gank a lot, while the light guys would often be running around trying to protect people that were leveling.

Anyone have even the slightest idea of the server I may be referring to? I'd love to remember the name of it. Even cooler would be if that server still existed somewhere...
There is a fantastic PW

They are a low magic, low to mid level server.

Heavy RP, All ages.

It keeps in line with classical DnD values before the MMO mentality of hack and slash took over.

I play NWN on a heavily modified PW its more fast paced action it is Higher Ground, http://highergroundnwn.net, it requires the CEP as well.
If RP+action is your thing, try Arenthyor (www.arenthyor.com).

Great RP with challenging action in an immersive world. Active and growing community. Join the forums to get a tour of the world.

There are still people playing NWN persistent worlds. Several have been mentioned earlier in this thread. You can also restore the in-client server listings if you install/use NWNCX (the Neverwinter Nights Client Extender), and web searches will turn up sites for many NWN PWs.

There is definitely still a good community. It's definitely smaller than in previous years (the game is over 11 years old, after all), but there are some of us still very involved in playing and creating new things for NWN.

A fantastic roleplaying PW still going strong!
Direct connect to nesstea.com if pvp is your thing it's the DungeonEternalX mod which has been around for a long time, probably the last pvp server still worth playing along with maybe bastions of war.

I play there most days.
