I've ben going through my backup disks and discovered and old install of NWN Gold (NWN+HoTU+SoU)

Just for fun I copied it to my secondary HDD and it runs PERFECTLY under Win 7 64 bit, without any fiddling around granting admin rights or anything (Win7 automatically turns off aero and automatically runs it in XP SP3 compatibility) .

So what is wrong with The GoG Diamond edition (which I purchased because I lost my discs for the Gold Edition), that even if you have it install outside Program Files (C:/Games/GoG/NWN) you need to grant admin rights, manually set it run it in XP compatibility mode and otherwise sacrifice chickens?

Both are patched to patch 1.69 BTW.

This is the first time I have heard of any of the versions running without Admin rights.
I had the same issue. All I do is just right click on the desktop icon and pick run as administrator. My apartment's too small to keep chickens. I have to do the same thing with Jagged Alliance 2. I guess it;'s just the way some of the games are GoG.
