Greetings everyone,

I recently bought NWN Diamond Edition on GOG. Installation went fine, but whenever I open the game, it lag like hell (3-12 FPS) starting from the main menu. I did everything I can think of: Run as administrator, my drivers and Direct X are up-to-date, compatibility XP SP 2-3, disable desktop composition for both nwnmain & nwn.exe... but the problem still exists. And I'm pretty sure

Also I can't get NWN Toolset to work. The error message was: "Could not create 3D preview window. Please check that you are running the latest drivers for your video card. This program will now exit" and "Abnormal program termination".

Can someone please help with this?

Thank you in advance.

What operating system are you running? Are you running NWN with full permissions?

What video card (and driver version) and DirectX version do you have?

Did you install the 1.69 critical rebuild?

Make sure DirectX 9 is properly installed:

Try different resolutions. The game doesn't work well with every GPU / Driver / Resolution combination.

EDIT: Further there's this guy, who had the same issue and eventually fixed it by uninstalling graphics drivers from ASUS (Asus enhanced driver).

My OS: Windows 7 32-bit. NWN full permissions.

Video card: ATI Radeon HD3200 (intergrated laptop graphics), driver version: 8.56.1.15 (April 24th 2009), DirectX 10.

The version I bought from GOG is 1.69, but I did tried 1.69 critical rebuild. It doesn't work.

Tried to reinstall DirectX 9, though I have 10 already.

Different resolutions doesn't work. So does the guy you mentioned. There was nothing called Enhanced Driver in my Device Manager. Is there any other solutions?

Thank you both for your time.
What do you mean the 1.69 critical rebuild "doesn't work?"

Have you tried disabling the Catalyst AI? This may help, maybe.

P.S. ATI Radeon...yuck.

It is what it meant lol... "I installed the critical rebuild and the same problem persist."

Where is that Catalyst Control Center? I don't think I have that program installed.

ATI Radeon... yeah. But I don't have a choice...

Definitely try the newest drivers from AMD/ATi
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+7+-+32#amd-catalyst-packages

When they're installed, just right-click on an empty space on your desktop and you should find the option to start the Catalyst Control Center from the context menu.

Thank you! Although disabling Catalyst AI wasn't the solution (I could not find it anywhere in the CCC, in fact I hardly find any options there), but after I installed AMD CCC, Driver Downloader and updated my graphic driver, it worked like a charm now!

Thank you both MagicalMaster & DeMignon! I really appreciate it.
