Hey, So I tried everything already in forums. Turn off virus protection and launch setup and the game itself (nwnmain) as administrator. Tried all the compatibility modes as an admin. etc. I can get it to run through the splash screens and intro movie, using pre-windows 7 compatibility settings. Then it stops on the last screen before the menu. In WIN 7-8 it get to the menu screen but that is black though I can hear the clicks of the menu buttons in the background. I've spent about 3 hours trying different stuff. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance for even reading this.

Hey, thanks for replying. Chipster here's the specs.
for my Lenovo Miix 2 8 Tablet
Processor 1.3 GHz 8032
RAM 2 GB DDR2-SDRAM
Graphics Coprocessor Integrated
Chipset Brand Intel
Operating System Windows 8.1
Processor Brand Intel
Processor Count 4
Computer Memory Type DDR2 SDRAM.
I just did reset this to factory settings just the soft one not the whole rewrite. Would that make a difference.

And DeMignon,
I tried to update the driver. From the Intel website. It told me I had to download java to have the Intel Graphics Utility run. Did that, and it just ran me around in circles. The Intel Utility won't let me do it online (even though I installed Java like they told me to) and when I downloaded the Intel Graphics utility and open it manually it won't open. I think OpenGL might be the problem, I did see something about that on a splash screen when I was monkeying around. Is there another way to get that. Like a different program that needed OpenGl that I could fool my tablet into downloading it? Am I even making sense anymore? Argg!!!

Thank you both for taking the time to help. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I I think I should have been able to figure this out. I've always been able to fix these issues in the past. Thanks again.

Hardware & driver specs?

Patched with the critical rebuild?
Update your graphics card's drivers. NWN runs with OpenGlide and some drivers have troubles with that. If that's the case here, you might be lucky and it got fixed in the newest driver version.

I know, Intel driver download is horrible. Uninstall Java if no other software you're using depends on it, or at least make sure it isn't activated in your browser any more (Java's control panel offers an option to deactivate browser support).

Here's Lenovo's driver download page for your tablet. It's always good to be up-to-date when hunting errors:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/miix-series/miix-2-8-tablet-lenovo?tabName=Downloads
One of the chipset driver packages might also include newer graphic drivers.
Integrated graphics have always presented a problem running NWN and I believe your suspicions are correct about OpenGL being the culprit, at least indirectly. The newer graphics (cards & drivers) aren't supporting the version that NWN was design to operate with. Not much you can do about it. Generally, the procedure used by others has been to install the latest driver and keep downgrading it until you find one that works... at least that's how the users of AMD's Catalyst went about configuring performance for a legacy game like NWN.

The other possibility is the version of DirectX. The newest versions often cause problems or just crash it automatically trying to render information that cannot be digested. You'll need to check the DirectX threads on the BSN forums, though. I can't recall which version worked well. Something like 9.1 but don't quote me.

The thing is: even if you finally do find the right combo of graphics indexing, heat always seems to be a problem with those integrated rigs (I remember reading about someone who added another fan or higher capacity one to enable them to process graphic-intensive demands on a laptop).
Hey,
DeMignon, thanks for the link to the Lenovo page. I had already visited that and not seeing anything titled graphics driver, I bagged it. I did not know updating chipsets updates those drivers. Thanks for the schooling. Updating chipsets just for this sounds a little drastic.

Chipster,
Thanks for the advice. So it is possible to downgrade DirectX? I have 11.whatever right now. And I know I upgraded to that after I got this. I also have rigged a clip-on portable fan to my bed frame for those heating issues.

To both of you. Thanks again. I have really bad back problems and got this tablet just so I could play PC grade games lying down. I've spent like 6 hours trying to figure this and will eventually get this working. 'Tis a sacred vow! Right now I've decided to just run the same character all the way through BG1 and BG2.
Thanks again.

No, all DirectX versions will be installed parallel.
This pack includes all the older libraries you might be missing:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
When you run the downloaded file, it'll ask you where to extract the files. Choose any separate folder, as it contains quite a bunch of files. Then go there and start dxsetup.exe for installation. You can delete this folder afterwards.
